Hi,
I was trying to rent points in the rent/trade forum and I was contacted by a woman that has a reservation she wants to sell. She is asking for a cashiers check for half the amount. How do I really know she is telling the truth??

You don't necessarily. There are ways of finding out, but with her asking for a cashier's check you need to be careful. The fortunate thing is there are many people on DVC rent/trade boards that are real so you can usually be selective.

Good luck.:goodvibes

Thanks for the answer. My only problem is, I need a reservation in May and everybody seems to be book through DVC. I will probably just call Disney direct and book through them at a moderate resort instead.

Thanks

This late that is probably the best option. Renting through DVC is easier when you are outside the 7 month or 11 month window. It can be done after that, but it's not as easy, unless you are looking at very slow time like January.

See the [thread=1669863]Considering Renting from a DVC Member?[/thread] thread.

If I were renting a reservation for May, I'd be asking for full payment as soon as possible, too. Otherwise, the member could get stuck with a reservation that would make their points go into holding.
