So what can we do to entertain the troops (ages 4,5 &6) while we're waiting in line?
Punching and poking each other (and ME!!!) seems to keep them amused for HOURS. And these are three GIRLS. There is also "climbing the railing", "sitting on other people's hands", and "threatening to touch you with gooey sticky ice-cream fingers"...that last one always gets a laugh.

In all honesty, we just got back from the best DL trip (3 nights) that we've ever had, and that was *with* the Arizona spring break crowds (not too bad, really). The only thing we did differently was to cut out the "forced march" mentality of having to hit as many rides as possible (aka "getting your money's worth"). We got up late on some days, and left the parks early on others to go swimming. We also let the kids run free at the Brother Bear area of CA (Tom Sawyer's Island at DL is another excellent place for free-range children to play), and didn't worry about it taking time away from going on rides.
In other words, we learned that "chilling" leads to good times, no matter how many rides we went on...and other than the sticky fingers monster game and the poking game, we had a good time in line as well (our girls are 10, 6, and 6).
