How to handle People who change your plans?

I am so irritated.

5 months ago I set it up with my brother to take him and his kids with me and DS to Disneyland. All he has to pay for is their food and extras.

So I even bought the Mickeys halloween treat tickets for all 5 of us.

Here it is less than 1 week before we are to get to DL and I found out he didn't get his leave(Navy), no problem. I was able to change the arrival dates.

So now I get the call that neither of his kids want to miss 3 days of school for Disney!! WHY NOT?

Why couldn't they have thought of this BEFORE I put out another $125 on tickets I can't return or use now?(Plus the $25 to change the dates)

I could have flown into Anehieim and took a cab to DL and had more time. But my DB wanted me to spend time with him in SanDiego. So I changed all my plans to fit his and now they don't want to even go!!

I told my brother to get me and my son up there. I even said I would rent a car if needed. But I have not received a reply yet. So I fly out in 3 days and have no idea what is up.

So if they don't go, can I sell the 3 other hopper passes? I have no idea how to work Ebay. What would you do?

Ebay is easy - there are instructions on their web page that are pretty clear.

I am so sorry about your frustration - and I know how frustrating this is. You have a right to be angry and frustrated - you made plans based on their schedules and spent a lot of extra money for this all to work - and now they don't want to go.

What is the date on the park hoppers? - can you use them before they expire?

There is a train from SD north and a train station in Fullerton (I think) - that might be cheaper than renting a car (check with Amtrak).

I hope things work out so you and you son can have a good time. Let us know what happens in the end.

WOW im just kinda shocked your brothers kids just dont want to go to DL! I dont think i've ever heard of a child pass that up.

I would just explain to your brother that you spent a lot of time and money planning this trip, and it would be nice that he just have his kids go with you and give you enough money to cover food and other expenses, and then see what he says about that. If my aunt were to take me to DL I would be thrilled.

But other then that, ebay is an option for selling your tickets. Just check the selling manual on the ebay site, or you can call them up. it walks you through steps on selling items, and setting prices.

I am so sorry to hear about your delema. If I had the money at the moment, i would be more then happy to take the tix off your hands. Definately let us know what happens.

You probably shouldn't do this - but if it was me - I would just go to DL and tell my brother if he wants to see me - come on up to Anaheim. You already bent over backwards to meet his needs - now its time for him to give a little.

Only you can decide how much you want to "give in" to your brother to keep the peace and for you to be OK with your choice. ANd it is a tough choice.

I keep thinking of more things: you could also present him with a bill for the extra costs you incurred for him and his kids.

They are 3 day hoppers good until Dec 24th 2006(They don't allow them to be used during Christmas and NewYears weeks)
So I won't be able to go again this year. :sad2:

why dont you call Disneyland and see if they can do a refund? CM are pretty nice about it... at least you can try :)

that really sucks...but as the other op stated...you can sell these tickets on ebay quick...and if you do it tonight, you can probably sell your halloween treat tickets..send em out overnight :confused3 just a thought...I would go to anaheim and forget everything else

I agree with the others - get yourself some extra time in DL and skip San Diego completely. I wouldn't waste your time in San Diego at all!

I think you really need to get to the root of the problem.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE KIDS???

No kidding! :rotfl2:

Good luck on getting this resolved.

It looks like your plan is to visit your brother & then go to Disneyland. An alternate transportation option if you don't have a car is for you & your son to take the train from San Diego to Anaheim or Fullerton - either option is good for Disneyland. You can take a cab from Anaheim (5-10 minute ride), or take a bus from the Fullerton station.

I would gladly take those parkhoppers off your hands... :teeth:

I've bought tickets off of ebay, so they will sell.

How would that work? :yay:

I just got off the phone with him.
I guess it was just HIM that had never been to Disneyland.
So since the kids won't go(Have gone before after all)He can't/won't go.

They are going to the Halloween event, so at least I won't loose that money.
But the worst part is my son is now upset because he thought he was going to hang out with them for a week. Now it is down to a few days at the most.

I don't know yet if I can get another night at PP, so going early is not an option yet...So I may get stuck sitting at his house all day monday until he gets off work. I am so bummed out. This is suposed to be a happy time, I don't feel very happy at the moment.

You don't say how old the kids are. A lot of people don't realize the extra work it is for students in the intermediate or high school years to miss a couple of days. Are there exams or tests coming up? How about a long awaited field trip? That could be what is wrong.

My neice is in 10th grade and my nephew is in 8th.

That could be why they don't want to miss out. They both are doing good right now.

It will all work out some how.

I am prepping my happy thoughts now and I won't worry about it.

How do I let the hotel know I will be getting in late?
Do I just call?

Thanks

Kids who choose school over Disneyland....that's crazy! How they could choose being stuck in a boring math class over Mickey Mouse is beyond me. :confused3

Yes you can sell them on ebay. Friend just did this got about $40 more than she paid. It's a good time to sell them.

I would call the hotel directly, not using any reservation system numbers. When you call, ask them to please note it in your reservation file, so that your room is not given away. If you send an email, it might not get into the right hands.

I called and was assured that my room would not be given away. :thanks:

12 hrs until we get to the airport!!
