How to handle line-breakers?

"Provided for"? No. Allowed, in order to avoid making guests with enlarged senses of entitlement angry? Yes.
You must have been sitting in that Universal meeting where the ride designers proclaimed, "For god's sake, whatever we do, make sure we design it so that we don't upset the guests with enlarged senses of entitlement!" :rotfl2:

If you want to ride single rider, use the single rider queue. If you want to see the castle and not ride, use the castle tour line. If you want both, wait in line like everyone else.
Says the poster who is "entitled" to dictate what everyone should or should not do--even if Universal's own employees AND policies AND ride layout allow it. But clearly you know what the REAL policies are. Glad you're doing your part to enforce them! :thumbsup2

Tell you what. Next time you see someone exiting the tour line and asking to go in the SR line, and being allowed to do so...

REPORT THEM IMMEDIATELY!

And let us know what happens.

I don't see any difference in doing the castle tour, going outside and getting in the single rider line or doing the castle tour and staying inside and getting in the single rider line....provided you actually go to the back of the single rider line.

We were in line at Dragon Challenge, and a teenage girl said "Excuse me" behind me. I let her pass, but it turned out there were FIVE of them, and they did their "excuse me" routine all the way up the line.

(If I'd realized it wasn't just one person, I would have told them to excuse themselves back to where they started--but I thought it was just one girl joining her family)

A few minutes later, we had advanced to a halfway point where there was an IOA woman. DD mentioned it to her, and she asked what they looked like. Which implied to me that IOA will take some action (possibly escorting them out of the park?).

Problem is, since you're facing forward, you don't realize it's more than one or two people until it's too late and they're already around the bend.

I personally haven't seen this problem much at the Disney parks, but US doesn't seem to monitor their lines as tightly as Disney does. Or maybe it's that Disney doesn't have as many "hidden/enclosed" lines as US.

How best to handle this?

(I saw a similar event at a Six Flags once. I was waiting in line, and a woman said "Excuse me" (with her little boy and embarrassed-looking husband) all the way up the long long line. I could see the end of the queue from where I was, and when they got to the top of the stairs to enter the ride, a bunch of people on the stairs started shouting (having just been bypassed).

Next I saw security escorting the family down the exit stairs, and on their way out of the park. :thumbsup2)

Unless you know the entire context of what's going on, the best thing to do is mind your own business. Suppose the teenagers had already been in line, but just needed a bathroom break. In this case, justice was served. But most of the time, non of us is going to know the entire context.

Funny, 'cause YOU started THIS thread in order to get opinions on what people should do if someone is breaking in line.

I get it - You don't think that the strategy that YOU shared for "skipping the line" qualifies as "breaking." Clearly, I disagree. Obviously, neither of us is going to be swayed.

Furthermore, I absolutely do think I'm "entitled" to share my opinion on a forum. That's sort of what forums are for. *shrug*

You've resorted to snarky comments and sarcasm in order to try to make your point, which is sad.

Big difference is, nearly all the posters AND Universal employees AND Universal policies agree with me.

(BTW, it's avoiding the line, not "skipping". Subtle difference.)

Furthermore, I absolutely do think I'm "entitled" to share my opinion on a forum.
Clearly your opinions absolutely do include dictating what everyone should or should not do.

Nope, I made my point much earlier. Everything else is about your "point".

Correction, then. You've resorted to snark and attitude to prove that my point is wrong.

Either way, you've been insulting and mean. Disagree with my opinion if you wish, but to resort to those kinds of bullying tactics in a discussion is completely unnecessary.

As I don't wish to be insulted or ridiculed any more, I'll bow out here. I presume that will make you feel good.

Dh and I were at U in Oct. Neither of us had been to any of the HP attractions in the past and quite frankly we were unaware of how U policies worked. Dh did not wish to ride FJ but I did and we both wanted to tour the castle. I did the obvious thing and explained this to the first U rep we saw (are they called cm's ? ). She told us where to go to tour, and where I would separate to do single rider by explaining that when we got to point A I was to explain to the rep that would be there that (her name) had told us to do it this way and to show my husband the exit where he could meet me (that part didn't work out so well but that's another story....lol). I then had a 2 minute single rider wait.
I had no idea that this was somehow considered by some to be line breaking esp since this was how we were told to do it by the U employee.

Last week on FJ, the TM's were telling everybody that only one person could go to the lockers for the group and the rest of the group should continue on and save the person's spot. So, there constantly was people saying "excuse me" as they tried to get to their group ahead. There would have been no way to distinguish between somebody trying to cut or somebody who was following instructions and was the group locker person.

As for the tour line and then getting into the SR line, if you are stepping in front of somebody who has been patiently waiting, you are cutting the line, period. And you are making the person who was waiting annoyed. Pretty much basic kindergarten knowledge.

What drove me crazy are the people who stayed back to film their group and others going through the wall at King's Crossing and then muscling their way back to their group. Their group should have stopped and waited for their person to catch up and then move on. That is what we did and it did not add more than a minute to our wait. Another basic kindergarten piece of knowledge - you get out of line, you lose your spot.

Snoop, you're acting like a theme parks board poster. Your opinion here is quite frankly unbelievably ridiculous. No advantage is being gained by doing the castle tour and then going to the end of the single rider line. That actually takes LONGER.
