So I want to get some insight on how to ace the interview , I want to work at attractions. I want to work specifically at KSR. What tags during the interview should I use to try and get where I want?

There are no guarantees. It's that simple. You can be knowledgeable about your goals and what you can bring to the role, but that's about it. You do understand that you won't find out where you are placed until AFTER you arrive for check-in, yes? For instance, during my interview, I was asked my favorite park. I said DAK and there was a small conversation about why. Happily, I was placed in DAK (merchandise), but I was given NO chance to give a preference to my location within the park. I also believe the interviewers to be pretty savvy and onto people who try to use buzzwords or "tags", as you call them. Also, if you only check one role, that's not going to look good for your desire to work for the Company.

simply checking one role would be , well, not the best decision , obviously. I thought maybe there were multiple college programers ( such as myself FALL ADV 2002, SP ADV 2008) that maybe had success had getting the same place they wanted. If this does happen at starts at the interview process. anyway, thank you for your...response.

I would disagree with this. If you only want to work at the Safari's in DAK, then only checking attractions is what you should do. And during your interview talk about your multiple experiences and that you really only want to do Safari's. Basically, clearly explain why you only checked attractions.

If you check any other role, then you open yourself up to anything else that you check. gives them more options, so it could increase the likelihood of an offer. but what good is an offer for something you don't want to do?

i would highly suggest putting down as many roles as you can.
put emphasis on the one you want the most; talk about it as much and as thoroughly as you can.
if you don't get it, at least you'll have a chance for working with the company in another area.

You have to answer this...

do you want to do the CP or do you want to do KSR?

If your only purpose is KSR then only mark the one role and know that you may get in as attractions but are still not guaranteed KSR.

If you want to just get into the CP then check more roles... I personally only checked three (because of my professional goals), but I hear it gets more competitve each sememster.

They will place KSR based on how well you speak during your interview. Make sure you speak in complete sentances, do not use ums or ahs, and highlight your knowledge of animals.

Pretty much it has been summed up above.....do you want to do the CP or just the KSR? I checked a large number of roles, and I got my 2nd (it was a tie between attractions and character attendant, i got the CA) choice. I'm not sure if I got it because I auditioned or my theatre skills, or just because it was a top choice. However, I put in my 4th and 5th choices down, and said I liked and really wanted Magic Kingdom, but I didn't want to seem like i didnt want to work elsewhere. I got my least favorite park, EPCOT. moral is people can get the role they want but not the park or attraction, etc. or some people here really wanted character attendant and they got Recreation. All you can do is put in what you want, and make it clear you prefer that. But there really is no gaurantee!!! Good luck!!!

They are pretty good about trying to place people where they would be happy. When I did attractions, they asked me about my favorite movie/character. I mentioned Eeyore and was placed in Fantasyland Attractions in the Winnie the Pooh Complex. Another girl I worked with Fantasyland who was placed in the Pan complex had told her interviewer her favorite ride was Peter Pan.

I would simply be upfront about it. Say that you are most interested in Safari and that you would love to work there- but make it clear that you are willing to work elsewhere. Don't try to be sneaky about it, they'll see through that in a minute. Just be ready for whatever comes. Remember, what they do is based strictly on operational need. Sometimes they simply don't need people in a given area, or there are more people who are interested/will fit in an area than they have spots for.

I agree with pretty much everyone! You really need to think about if your willing to do other jobs or just safari. It is getting really competitive to even get an internship let alone attractions, especially safari!!!!!!!!!!!! They have very small numbers of CPs on Safari!

I would check as many roles as your willing to do because it is getting tough to even get a spot!

I agree that you're only setting yourself up for disappointment if you have your mind set on one ride. You won't know until you arrive where your location is and at that point you cannot change it.

I work at KSR and it's not the be all end all of jobs. I didn't request it at all; I actually only wanted attractions in MK. However, you take what you're given and work with it. Not everybody that gets KSR even passes training so just being put there doesn't mean you'll end up with it. Do I enjoy it? Yes. Would I be just as happier elsewhere? Yes. I am just happy to have a role at all.

I had one summer of working in ride operations at Cedar Point under my belt (2003) and mentioned I had loved working on roller coasters during my cp interview. I was placed at the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. Good times.
