Okay I am not sure if that is a naughty word on here or not.. maybe it is with the love of the mouse we all have have .. but dear big brother wants to take his 16 year old daugher over there for one day.. We are using TTC for our transportation to and from the airport..

SO he wants me to find them the cheapest way to get to and from U.S... would a taxi be the right choice?? I told him that TTC could do it and he said see if there is a cheaper way..

I told him I would check with the experts!! What do ya'll think?

Thanks,
Laurie

I don't know how much TTC is, and I believe I've read somewhere there's a way to get orlando public transportation from DTD, but if it was me, and if your brother is over 25, I'd rent a car for the day. You can rent National cars at the Dolphin or at the car care center (which I believe provides resort transportation). Actually, if you rented two days and used one day to shop at the outlet store, you might be able to save the cost of the rental. There are also rental cars available at some of the DTD resorts. If he has some flexibility, he may want to research doing Universal on a weekend day, vs weekday. Sometimes there some great rental specials. Also, if he's really committed to doing this, he may find it worthwhile to rent a car at the airport for the whole trip, even if he doesn't use it to get around WDW.

We are renting a car from Alamo (picking up at the Car Care Center) on Oct. 24 (8am) and dropping back off at the same place on Oct.25 (8am). Our price is $45 ($39.99/day plus taxes) and that's for an SUV. I could have gotten it cheaper with a smaller car ($27.99/day plus taxes). I had tried using several codes and this one was the cheapest by far. Oh, BTW we're also using it to go to US/IOA for a day outlet mall too).

I am going to work on the car rental and see what type of rates I can find for him!

Thank you so much for the suggestions!!

I think that Mears also goes to and from Universal. That wouldn't be too expensive, but you'd then need to stop at other resorts. Keep in mind if you rent a car you also need to factor in parking at Universal.

Rpsemont, my bet is that her brother is over 25yo since he has a 16yo daughter. That is unless he was a VERY young dad... :teeth:

Tiffany Towncar is $65.00 RT to Universal + 20% tip.

Mears is $14 per person CASH ONLY RT to Universal + tip. ($1-$2 dollars per person is sufficient)

A 24 hour compact car reservation picking up at the Dolphin and returning at the Dolphin is $27.00 with no discounts. That is for a weekend day using National. You also have to figure in $3.00 - $4.00 for gas and $8.00 for parking at Universal. The rental car counter at the Dolphin doesn't open until 9am.

If you used some of the discount codes, you might get a better deal.

Mears is your least expensive option, but unless you need an handicapped accessible van, you will be stopping at other resorts. However, they do time the morning trip to get you to Universal right when it opens. Don't preschedule your return trip. Call 2 hours before you are ready to leave.
