do you have to be in the mk park or the contemporary resort to get to fort wilderness is it possible to go there on a day when your not visiting the parks because it sounds like the petting zoo and pony rides and marshmallow roast would be such a lot of fun and do you have to be staying on property to partake? thanks again dismemaw:cool:

Fort Wilderness is a resort in itself, not in the MK. It is located next to the Wilderness Lodge and it is located on Bay Lake. You can take a bus from the TTC to get there and spend the day if you like. If you are staying at the Wilderness Lodge, there is a trail that you can take to get over to Fort Wilderness, or you could rent bikes at the Wilderness Lodge and ride over on the trail.

If you are going over to FW after being at MK, it is a wonderful ride over on the boat from the docks outside the entrance to MK and the Monorail. You can also take a boat from the CR or WL.

The activities are limited to guests of WDW staying at WDW resorts.

There is a bus that leaves from ticket & transportation that will take you directly to Ft. Wilderness. I think it's the Boone or Crockett, runs every few minutes it seems. We've never waited very long. You can also take the monorail to the Contemporary Resort and take the boat over--that's always are choice.
