How to get to the nearest Walmart from DTD?

How much would it cost for a taxi from dtd to walmart?( the closest one)

TinkerbellMama, whatever you do, do not, I repeat, do not try to walk to the WM down from Crossroads. It is a heavily traveled road with no sidewalks and several interstate exchanges.

There IS a grocery and shopping center at Crossroads that you could get to from DTD but the prices are very high and there is not a whole lot of choices but it is better than risking your next out on the highway.

If you really want to go it might be worth a cab fare for you as it is not a long distance though.

If I was going to be there when you are I would take you on a shopping trip though.

LOL, thanks for the info and the kind offer! We will have a car available to us, so that isn't an issue. We can get there safely. I would actually PREFER to walk, if it were a safe road, because we enjoy the exercise and we are used to walking several miles per day. Apparently it is not a safe trip on foot at all, and I do thank you for the information! It was most helpful.

I would like to know this too. I'll be staying in the DTD area in a few weeks. Also, does this new Walmart have somewhere to eat in it, like the other one has a McDonalds? Is it easy to find by car?

Depending on where you are staying offsite you have a couple of options.
The BJ's off of I-4 that a previous poster mentioned is near the Millenia Mall (great mall BTW) but still, it's north of Universal. The BJ's that we stop at from time to time up there is on the southeast corner of Osceola Pky and John Young Pky in the Kissimmee area. On the NW corner, you will find a nice shopping center called The LOOP with a Kohl's, Ross, Old Navy, Sports Authority, PETCO, movie theater and one of our favorite chains... Macaroni Grill

Yes, it has a Sonic (another burger place, big down here in the South).

Re: BJs. If you had out 535 towards WalMart, but take a left to the 417, the one in Kissimee is not that far.

From BWV, take a right out of the resort, left at Buena Vista, continue past CBR and Bonnet Creek and take the exit to 536 (Epcot Center Blvd). Get into the left lane on 536 until you pass the I-4 exits. When you get to 535 turn right for the new Walmart, it's about a mile down the road.

For those of you who are interested in restaurants in the DTD area - there is a McD at DTD and I also highly recommend Earl of Sandwich if you are hunting for a good budget meal.

If you are staying in that area you can just walk down the hotel blvd to Crossroads and there are many fast food restaurants (McD's included) as well as a Mexican and Italian restaurant. Pebbles, an upscale place in the back of the mall as well. It is very walkable from DTD or any of the DTD hotels.

I have seen that it is only $5-10 from most on property hotels to most any other on property place (we have a car so we have never taken a cab) so I am assuming that it would not be very expensive to go from the DTD area to that W M. Just make sure that the driver does not take you to another one far, far away.

If you have your own car it would be easy to go up and down the road that Crossroads is on for many other dining and shopping opportunities.

Crossroads sits right at the end of the hotel road but if you turn left, right behind 7-11 there is the Ale House. It is a sports bar type place that is very family friendly, with great food and lots of CM's and other locals eat there. Onion Rings!! Yumm!!!!
