Me and my girlfriend recently planned our trip to disney world and made a reservation to il mulino. But the magical express doesnt go to the swan and dolphin. We really want to go to this restaurant so how can we get there without using a cab or anything transportation like that?

Are you planning from MCO? Magical express only goes between MCO and WDW owned resorts.

Without knowing where you are starting, I cannot give you an answer.

...or you can travel from a park or Disney Springs to YC/BC/Boardwalk & then walk from there.

There are Disney buses from the WDW parks and Disney Springs that goes direct to Swan/Dolphin so no need to go to another resort and walk.

Should have been more specific sorry, were staying at the all star sports resort and we were trying to see if there are any buses that could get us to swan and dolphin.

This is one thing that has always annoyed me - they dont have buses to the boardwalk area - you have to go to DS and then to Boardwalk (or swan Dolphin etc..)
Seem like the Epcot buses could always stop at boardwalk - at one time I think there was a boardwalk bus at least from CSR.

I dont like to take taxis\uber if I can avoid it - but this has always seemed to be something that is lacking - this is the same for getting to almost all resorts.
If you want to go to Trader Sams you have to go to Mk and take the monorail...but if you stay after the monorail closes you then have to go to DS and back to your resort.
If you want to go to AK lodge or Wilderness Lodge - you need two buses.
If there were more direct options i would probably spend more time in those restaurants and lounges.

But its the same if you want to visit California Grill, 'Ohana or one of the other resort restaurants you need to travel to a park and then onwards to the resort. Yes, Boardwalk has the clubs, but in terms of restaurants there aren't really many more compared to other deluxe resorts.

Take the bus to DHS, then you can either walk (20 mins) or take the boat (15 or so mins once on the boat..could be a 20 min wait for the boat to get there), or take a bus to AK and then transfer to the S/D bus there.

not sure why you are going to DS. To get to the Epcot resorts - BW, YC, BC, Swan/Dolphin just take the bus to HS and hop on the boat or walk. To get to MK resorts - GF, CR, WL, Poly - take the bus to MK and hop on the monorail or a boat. AKL is a bit of a pain as you do have to bus to AK then bus to the lodge and yes, if it were after AK were closed you would either have to bus back to one of the other parks (which is what I'd do before going to DS) or to DS if the other parks are closed. It would be great if they had resort to resort but think of all the combinations that would be required, it would be a logistical nightmare.

That's only because they're the two conference centers. Having the Epcot buses stop at the Boardwalk would get really annoying for the 99% of guests who aren't going there, and it's really easy to just walk to the Boardwalk from Epcot.

There are too many resorts and not a high enough volume of people to make resort-to-resort buses viable.

That works and I do it all the time depending on park hours and such.

Problem is they close the monorail well before the bars close - there was a bunch of people that were at the Poly for various reasons and just missed the last monorail back to MK and although the Mk was open with extra magic hours the monorail had closed - so at 10:30 or so at night you have to go to DS
They were all pretty annoyed as was I - especially since I asked the folks at MK before I headed over to the Poly.

Same for Boardwalk - if you stay later at say Abracabar or whatever it is called - after 9 you are sort of stuck.
If a park is open you can get a bus to a park and then to your resort - but more often than not you have to go to DS

Yup problem is getting back - for the most part Epcot closes at 9 so no way to get to the front of Epcot to the buses. Same with HS - it will all depend on what time those close and what time the last bus is etc..

Yup - again all of this depends on how late you want to stay at the bars.
To me it just seems with all the bars and things going on at boardwalk there should be some more reasonable way than going to DS and changing.

I dont have the answer for what that is - it's just something that has always annoyed me.
Between Blue Zoo and now Abrcabar it's just a PITA to get back.
it i've been stuck in that position many times.

Right - but there are at Swan and Dolphin - Kimonos, Blue Zoo etc.. all in that boardwalk area.
Also at Yatch/Beach Club - also Boardwalk area
Flying Fish is boardwalk.

So you have really 5 resorts all in walking distance plus all the bars/clubs in the boardwalk area.

Of course the main answer is if having access to a particular bar is important, stay at the hotel that contains that bar.

We used Uber on multiple occasions this summer to get our son and his girlfriend back to All-Star Sports from The Boardwalk Inn lobby. It was about $5.50 one way.

We found it a pretty small price to pay to avoid the Planes, Trains and Automobiles options that will otherwise get you there.
