Hello. My in laws have an ADR for Cape May Cafe their first night. They are staying at POR and were wondering the best way to get there. I thought I remembered going to Epcot or HS 1st one year and there was no bus to BC. I don't want to steer them wrong. TIA!

Correct--you can walk from DHS and Epcot to BC/YC. If you want to use Disney Transportation, you'll have to go to one of those parks and then either walk or ride the boat. If you want to do it quickly (and save some time), you could take a taxi.

You can transfer to a BC bus from the TTC or any park, but the easiest and, IMHO, nicest way to get there would be to go to HS and transfer to the boat to Epcot/Boardwalk area.

We did Cape May on our DHS day last trip and took the boat over, but then it was pouring rain so we just took a taxi back to POFQ and it was about $10 - and totally worth it.

there is no BC (or other Disney resort) buses at the TTC, only at the MK entrance.

To get to BC/YC from Epcot, you'd actually have to enter Epcot, so the best choice for using Disney transportation would be the bus to DHS and then walk or ride the boat. If the OP's in-laws want to spend some time at Epcot before going to dinner, that's one thing, but I wouldn't enter Epcot just to walk back to the International Gateway.

agree with this, except would add...using DHS for transportation way would depend on how late DHS is open that night, and what time their dinner reservation is. If DHS closes at 7:00, then the transportation is only going to run for about an hour after the park closes.

The Disney transportation to get from one resort to another is not very convenient at all...can take 60-90 minutes depending on your luck catching busses with minimal waits (and same with catching the boats to & from DHS. Sometimes there is quite a back-up on the lines at the boats.)

We always drive our own car, but if we did not have a car we would take a cab from POR to Beach Club unless we were actually planning on going to Epcot anyway that night.

Thanks everyone, I knew you would provide lots of information.:) I think they have decided to drive to this reservation if their plane arrives late or it seems like there isn't much time. Otherwise they may try the DHS and boat option. I think that is what we did a few years ago after going to Epcot and realizing there was no bus.:scared1:

How far is the walk from DHS to Cape May? How long is the boat ride?

Walking and boating will probably both take about 20 minutes, plus any time you have to wait for the boat to arrive. The boat stops @ the Swan/Dolphin before heading to Beach Club and Boardwalk.

If it's hot out, I would take the boat. But walking is enjoyable - we usually do that on our way to DHS in the morning from Beach Club. If we leave DHS and walk at the same time the boat is getting to the dock or at the dock, we usually beat the boat to the Boardwalk area.

We took the bus from CBR to DHS, then the boat (we just missed one so we had a to wait a long time)...then when we got off the boat I was very confused on how to find the Beach Club vs Yacht Club and how to find the entrance to the restaurant. (And, yes I am directionally challenged and had never been to the Boardwarch YC/BC area)

I would just drive next time.

Hmmm...to minimize your walking and maybe your waiting, I would use the bus system. From POR take either the MK or DTD bus, whichever comes FIRST. Transfer to the BC bus and you are done!
