Hi,
How would we get to Boma from Pop for a 7:35 a.m. breakfast reservation? Also, is there anywhere to see the animals while at the lodge? Would we have to drive?

Thanks!

If you have a car, you should drive. It will be far easier. I never do anything that early, but there may be someone who knows about whether you will be able to find bus transportation that early, and where you will need to go to transfer to the AKL bus.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge has many public areas from which you can view the savannas. You will not be able to see animals from inside Boma, though.

or take a cab....otherwise you will have to take the bus to animal kingdom and then the bus from AK to AKL...(depending on the time of year sometimes the Ak bus from pop also stops at Blizzard Beach too)

POP and AK are kinda in the same "area" of the disney property. It might be tricky and you mightbe late if you do take the bus to AK and then to AKL...so I really would save yourself the hassel and just cab it, it shouldn't cost that much...

Thanks for the help! Yes, it is early but our son will be up at 5:30 a.m. regardless so by 7:30 a.m. he will be starving!

Taking a taxi would be the easiest - this is what we have done. We've had 7:30 am adrs for Boma the past two Septembers while staying at Pop both times. Both times we took a taxi from Pop around 7:00 am - we got there in about 10 minutes. You could use Disney buses but they are infrequent & unpredictable in the early morning - to do this you would have to take a bus to a park & then get a bus from there to AKL which might prove difficult in the very early morning.

I agree with previous posters that the easiest, least stressful and most reliable way to get to the AKL early in the morning is a taxi.

As far as animal viewing. There are several places at the AKL Jambo House to view the animals. The largest viewing area is off the main lobby at Arusha Rock and it overlooks the Arusha Savanna. The second is to the left of the pool and it overlooks the Uzima Savanna. The third is also off the lobby, just past the registration desks there is a door that leads to what looks to me like a library. There is a patio off this room that overlooks the Sunset Savanna.

If you have time and don't mind the short walk, the viewing area off the lobby of the Kidani Villages of the Sunset Savanna is great. I saw many giraffe in this area.

If you do opt to take a bus to AK and then a bus to AKL, please note that the bus stops at both Kidani Village and Jambo House. Boma is located in Jambo House.

If you have a car, drive.

Sometimes it takes a while for a cab to come and it is pricey.

If you don't have a car, then a cab is your best bet. Call down to bell services 10 min before you are ready to leave the room and tell them you need a cab called, that way the cab will get there sooner.

Maybe I've been lucky, but I've never had trouble getting a cab from a Disney resort, and I've found the charges to be very reasonable. Granted I've only done it 5 or 6 times, I think.

I do agree that calling down ahead of time is the safest bet, especially first thing in the morning. :thumbsup2

I've never had to wait too long at a Disney resort, theme parks/DTD, different story.

Paying $18 for a 5 min cab ride is pricey, esp. if you already have a car at the hotel.
