I will be at a conference at Sheraton Universal, and am toying with the idea of staying on a few days to visit Disneyland. I don't want to rent a car (I'm too chicken to drive out there!). What's the best way to get from Sheraton to Disneyland? The hotel website says 40 miles. Thanks!

I lived within throwing distance of Universal for most of my life and made many a trip to Anaheim.

Its a straight shot driving down the 5 to Disneyland from there and really not too bad.. but if you really don't want to drive yourself, I think you could probably rent a limo to drive you door to door. You shoud also ask the hotel if they offer shuttle service to there, as that is a real possibility.

Hi Melora -

Sooooo, if I have driven on the Beltway around DC, could I drive from LAX to Universal to Disneyland and back to LAX (not all in the same day of course!) without having a nervous breakdown?? I could rent a car for $100, so it is really tempting....but I am pretty afraid of driving on a bazillion lane road in bumper to bumper without knowing where I am going.

Thanks!

I say you should try driving it yourself. It can be bad but if you drive in the early morning and late evening, traffic is almost never a factor. If you're going on the weekend, then it'll be a nice drive. Travelling during the work week can be tough, though.

Hi!

I think driving in LA traffic is more hyped up then it needs to be. Ive been many places in the US and the traffic here really isnt much worse (or better) than other large cities. Basically if you can follow road signs you can easily make the drive. Once you're on the 101 (it runs right next to Universal) its a straight shot. You go south and merge onto the 5 (a little past downtown but with no messy interchanges) and continue straight and stay on that all the way to Orange County to the Disneyland Resort exit.

Very simple. And as lap3 said, if you go off hours the traffic can actually be light.
