Do they open it for a certain period of time and people get in line or do they just go up to some people and offer them a VIP ride of Mission Space? What are the odds of us going in July to get the chance to experience Mission Space?

DH and the kids rode Mission Space on July 4th. The CM who assisted them (my daughter is in a wheelchair) told DH that Mission Space would be open every day from now on from 4PM until closing. So, just wander over to Mission Space around 4PM and ride ;) Enjoy!

I hope that is true. I had brain fade when I book our FTP. We had two choices that fit our schedule and frequent flyer availability, the last week of July and the last week of August. I totally forgot about the Aug 15 soft opening and booked July. I've been kicking myself since. It sounds like I may luck out. Thank God for Disney Magic!!!!

Being open from 4pm until closing - would that be considered a soft opening? Is this something that is announced someplace? So most people that are there before 4:00 will just think that Mission Space isn't open yet. How are the lines for Mission Space after 4?

We rode Mission Space on July 4th at around 7:30. At that time, the CM said there would be about a 20 minute wait. There were a few delays (announced as "holding patterns") and our wait was about 45 minutes. Because of the delays, alot of people got out of line. But I would say it was worth the wait!:)

Is Mission to Mars open daily? What is some of the recent reports to times to ride.
thanks
chris

This is the queue area inside Mission Space. The large wheel slowly spins around.

At last check it was only open after 4. My understanding is that as of last week only half of the ride was working (In other words only 40 people could ride at once and it will eventually hold 80). The opening is NOT announced and Mission Space is not on your park map. Pal Mickey did not even seem to know it was there yet.

I did it last week and it was great. However, since this is a soft opening, the practice things like breaking down so the line kind of moves in fits and it can be a while. One of the "suits" (Disney CM in regular clothes) told us that they use the soft opening to make sure the CMs know ALL the emergency procedures and everything else they need to know.

They have two of the centrofuges open. Each one of them hold 40 people. They are still working on the other 2 and will have them open for Aug 15. I was there this past Sunday and they turn on the Earth and have it spinning if it is going to open. I got in line at around 3:30 and I was at the planter in the middle of the walkway. The CM that I spoke with told me that they try to open it everyday but at least every other day. Most of the time it is about a 30 in wait if there isn't a problem with it.

i had a chance to ride it twice last week...the first time we waited around when we saw cm's moving near the fastpass signage...there were about 200 people waiting with us and we were able to ride it in the first 10 minutes of it opening...this was after a wait of about 1/2 hour....

the second time we rode it, we just stumbled upon it after doing ellen's energy ride and were able to ride it with a 20 minute wait or so...but this time, the ride did breakdown while we were in the cabin...the cabin went dark and the video started but we were told that we did not yet have clearence for liftoff...we waited in the cabin for about 10 minutes until the doors opened...a cm came to our cabin and escorted us out and to another centerfuge (sp?) and we rode with no wait...

it is an incredible ride and is not to be missed is you have the opportunity....

remember, it is not officially open and you cannot count on it being available for you to ride but it seems like if you have the time to wait when you see activity at the pavillion you should be able to ride it...

good luck and have fun!!!!
