We are booked right now for the 7 night eastern for Sept 4th. They only had the late diner when I booked so I took it hoping that an entry for early dining would come up. I need to confirm by July 6th. I can't see my kids and gramma being able to eat so late. Any ideas how I can get early dining. Anybody willing to switch?

Can't help you on the switch but ask the CMs when you get on the ship where to go for dining changes. They may be able to change you to the seating you prefer.

If you can't change, have kids and granny go to Pinochio's Pizzaria or Pluto's Dog House and get a snack around 5:00 or 5:30 (or order room service) to tide them over till dinner at 8:30.

We had late seating and my 80 something mom grabbed a piece of Pizza in the late afternoon. Also on Port days when we had excursions, we didn't eat lunch till around 1:30 or 2:00 so 8:30 wasn't so far away.

Lots of families with late seating ask the servers to bring the kids food out quickly so the kids can eat. Then parents take the kids to the club or lab to have fun while the adults enjoy the rest fo their meal.

We have the same problem. Last trip although we were waitlisted for 6 months we never got early seating.I was very disappointed but thouht rather than trying on the ship to have it changed we would try it, It was OK but now we are stuck with the same situation and I really don't want late seatin again. If anyone knows of any tricks LOL Please let us know.
Good Luck wth getting early seating:sunny:

We booked our January 1995 - 7 day Western cruise 2 months ago and could only get the 8:30 dinner seating. :( We are on a waiting list for the early seating. I didn't realize that the early seating booked so fast. We also have young kids who will need a snack in the late afternoon if we cannot get the early seating. Does anyone know of any benefits of having dinner at the late sitting instead of the early?

Actually, there are a lot of benefits to late seating. Particularly if your kids are big kids club fans and you enjoy dinner without your kids.

A lot of the family shows run over early seating. The pool reportedly is a lot less crowded from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. If your kids aren't the type to sit through a long dinner, you can let them swim/see shows/etc. Feed them at Pluto's or with room service, drop them off at the kids clubs while you go off to dinner, while they settle into an evening of Disney movies.

I like early seating, and will book it again. But on our four day cruise our kids only ate with us at dinner twice. They preferred the clubs - dinner was quite boring to them.

Make it up to them with nice sit down lunches in Lumiere's - which move a lot faster than dinner.

If you do have late dinner with kids, talk with your servers the first night about having their meals arrive ASAP. Some people have been able to get their kids fed before the entree arrives, then off to the clubs with them and mom and dad get a leisurely dinner.

We prefer late seating...but....
First, request early when you book, then request to be wait listed for early,....then after you board, go to "dining changes" and request early.

They will move you if they possibly can.

We are on the wait list for early dinner also, but after lurking on the boards for awhile I am thinking that I might just want to stay on the late seating. With the time difference it won't be that late for us anyway. I know it would definately be nicer to have the later breakfast time on debarkation day.

Cristi that was a benefit. We had never taken advantage of the last breakfast because it was too darn early but when it was late seating on or last cruise we did it and it was great.
