Hi All,

I think my guide book stated that Turtle talk with Crush is inside the Animation attraction. I'm not sure I want to see that entire attraction (actually I'm not really sure what it is, I'd love to hear any details), but i definitely want to see Turtle Talk. Do I have to do both, or is there a way to access one but not the other?

The Animation Building is so much fun! When you first walk inside, you'll be in a big open room with screens all around showing clips of classic Disney animation. This is a good place to lounge about if you're tired, hot, or need to get out of the rain for awhile.

If you head to your right, you'll find the queue for Turtle Talk with Crush. It's only about 10-15 minutes long (and the wait is usually about the same if you just missed the previous show). You can head straight through the lobby to Turtle Talk and leave directly afterwards if this is the only attraction you want to do inside the building, but you should seriously consider checking out the other areas.

If you make a hard left, you can head into the Animation Studio where you will be instructed by a Disney animator on how to draw a Disney character. Our family had a surprising amount of fun with the drawing and even my then 3 1/2 year old produced a credible Mickey's face! You can ask the CM on duty what character is up next and if you get a really nice CM, they'll even tell you what characters are on the agenda for the rest of the day.

Across on the other side of the main lobby area is the Sorcerer's Workshop that includes Ursula's Grotto (add your voice to classic Disney clips) and the Beast's Library (use the Beast's magic books to take a quiz to determine which Disney character is most like you).

Be sure to visit the Toy Story Zoetrope, on the opposite side of the lobby from Turtle Talk. It's an amazing exhibit and won't consume more than 5-10 minutes of your time. As mentioned above you can leave the building after any of the shows/exhibits.

The Animation building is like a big warehouse with many other rooms off of the main room. The main room has some seating, it has many movie clips running on huge screens...it's basically a way station for everything else. :) Just walk on in and choose the doors you want to enter! Well, choose the turnstiles you want to go through to wait in line to go through the door you want to enter. :upsidedow

The Animation Studios is one of the best kept secrets at DCA. If you have kids you should plan at least 90 minutes there including TTwC. :) I inevitably have to drag my kids (and DW ) out.

We discovered it last time we went. Best attraction in either DL or DCA IMHO.

Also inside is a great area where you can sit in front of a magic mirror and find out which Disney character you're most like. I'm Jiminy Cricket.

Thanks for the question OP!! My daughter LOVES Crush, and would go nuts at this :)

We usually visit crush at least twice each trip! Entertaining for all ages. There is a wall sized "tank" where Crush comes in and each show is different because of the guest interaction. He is so quick witted and a ton of fun to listen to.

I love the Animation Academy! I go to DL/DCA at least twice a month (and as you can see in my signature, 7 times since early September :thumbsup2) but Thursday was the first time I did this. I am a terrible artist but had so much fun we came back later to do it again. We drew Goofy first and Jack Skellington our second trip.

Crush is a lot of fun too. I still think the technology they use is pretty amazing.

The beast's library is great too, we do that every trip. I've been almost every female Disney character... except the princesses! :lmao: I'm still trying.

Oh, this is all so good to know! I honestly have never been in it, and my DS4 says he wants to see "the turtle" on this trip in December, so we'll definitely plan to do it! I had no idea all that was in there! He is LOVING drawing write now and will love it! So glad we have 4 days this time to do everything!:)

Thanks for all the tips! We walk past this building all the time and never bothered to go in it!

Thanks for all the tips and info. The last time I was there "Turtle Talk with Crush" was brand-new and it was a mob scene, so we skipped it. We'll be sure to stop by next month.

All the younger kids(yes and even the teens!) can sit on "lily pads" right in the very front-plenty of room for them all. Crush chats with some of these kiddos during the show. As a parent you can sit close by in the auditorium.

The animation building is awesome! and you should check out the whole thing, theres alot to see and alot of interactive activites. However if you only want to see crush you just enter the building and make a right the que is right there:):)

We love the Animation Building!

Both Turtle Talk and the Animation Academy have shows every 1/2 hour on the hour and on the 1/2 (i.e. 11, 11:30, 12, etc.) I believe the first show is one hour after park opening. The CM there once told us that the first show at AA is always Mickey! You can check with the CM at the entrance to AA and find out what is coming up. If there's a particular character you want, ask to see when they will doing them. They also do one "artist's choice" a day. When we go it always seems to be Jack Skellington. He's super easy to do.

We've done Mickey, Minnie, Grumpy, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, and Jack.

One nice thing about doing it at DCA vs. at WDW is that here you get to keep your drawings. And WDW it's done digitally and you have to buy it. You can ask in the store right off the Animation Academy (Off the Page) and they can give you a bag to carry your drawings in. We have kept all the drawings we have done over the years. ;) They will mean even more when my DD11 is older and we look back over her progression.
