How to get in to Club 33?

Other than the feeling of "wow, I'm finally 'in'"...why would people really want to wait 8-10years for a membership (that's ridiculously priced to start with) to a restaurant where you still have to pay for your meals? What's the fascination of Club 33?

It's also the only place in DL/MK where you can get an alcoholic drink. Not such a big deal anymore with Calif. Adv. right next door but back then, between the kids and the lines, my parents always looked forward to that cocktail at Club 33!

My only trips to Club 33 were 20 years ago when my dad's old friend/fraternity brother was a high-up exec at DL. Whenever we went to DL as a family my dad would hit him up for a reservation. I never appreciated it back then like I would now!

One thing I remember was that the gentlemen's menu was the only one that had the prices - I wonder if in our world of political correctness today if that is a thing of the past. I know my parents really enjoyed being able to have their cocktails there and that was one of the reasons they liked to go there so much!

Now that my dad has passed away (recently) those are some memories I really cherish. I wish I could afford to take my son there, but alas I am a stay at home mom and I don't have any sorority sisters in upper management at DL!

I think it would be fun to go once, just to experience it. Doubt I would take my kids, though! I saw a menu (with prices) somewhere, and the prices were pretty high, not worth buying a meal for a picky toddler.

I'm just curious (if anyone has been there): Is it always busy? Or tends not to be because of its exclusivity?

I have it to spend and still would see it as ridiculous so it basically boils down to how people want to spend their money. After all, some people think it's ridiculous that we spend so much $ to go to Disney year after year. LOL I guess it's kinda the same thing, huh?

Probably our first and last time.
We were able to get in through a friend of a friend.
Very cool, of course. We enjoyed it. But it was expensive (which we were expecting).
That is a once in a lifetime experience.
A man at a table next to us asked the server about a membership. The reply was the waiting list is so long they are not accepting names.

While the prices at Club 33 might seem high they are "basically" recouping the cost of your entry to the park. You are required to spend a minimum of $59 pp and I believe that is the entry for a one-day park hopper. If you're going to the Club for dinner (or lunch) as a guest you do receive a park hopper ticket for the day.

We were there just a week back with friends who were in from Panama for the Disney half marathon. They were able to have a relaxing day at the park and we just met them at about 8:00 and headed upstairs. I'm fortunate enough to have a co-worker who's son was once a member. When he passed away she was able to have the membership put in her name (I don't believe they do that anymore, but could be wrong.) and we've been to the club as her guest quite a few times. It's a great meal and they do have a very nice wine list. Cast members up there are fantastic and we do our best to always request our favorite. If he's available, great! If not, well, they're all just great.

Yes, we're on the list and have been for about 3 years now. Will we say yes when/if they offer it? Can't answer that question right now!

ETA: The prices I'm referring to are only the food prices. I don't believe those are outrageous. Now, if you start talking about the initiation fee and the annual dues, well.....

If there are any Club 33 members who could give me an invitation between 10/13-10/16, I'll happily accept it. Heck, the prices don't seem that bad when you factor in the 1 day hopper pass. (Note, I'm still willing to offer bribes if necessary )

I think the menu prices are comparable to any nice restaurant in a large city. For me expensive, but a nice splurge. We went all out when we were there with starters, drinks, coffee, dessert. If you kept it to an entree and a drink or starter, it's not so bad, as the previous poster, said, it just recoups the cost of the park ticket.
