When we went to Universal, DH just dropped the boys and I off at their convenient drop-off area and he then went off golfing. When we went to SeaWorld DH just dropped us off on the road-side and we had a short walk across the parking lot to the entrance. I decided to email Disney and ask if someone staying off-site could be just dropped-off and this is what they replied:

"It may interest you to know the main gate for the Magic Kingdom parking lot is
open 24 hours, since it also provides access to guests staying at the Magic
Kingdom Resorts. There is a guest drop-off area near the Ticket and
Transportation Center. Please be advised that there is a charge for parking;
although guests who are simply dropping off or picking up other guests may
obtain a refund of their parking fee at the Exxon Tiger Mart if they depart the
parking lot within 30 minutes of arrival."

Has anyone ever tried this...is it much of a hassle to get the refund at the ET Mart? Just wondering in case we have to stay off-site next trip to keep costs down and would rather not take the scheduled transportation they offer (my experience is that they are not as convenient), but DH needs the car to get to the golf course.

It is true. you may drop off your guest or family member at the drop off area near the ticket windows this aarea is well marked. there are 2 exxons on Disney property that will refund you the parking fee you need to go there as soon as you have droped and left within the 30 min or so. It does seem to be a pain do retreve you $6 bucks but it can be done.http://disneyorlandotransportation.com

You can drive to the drop-off area in front of the TTC without paying for parking. The CM who normally collects your $6 will direct you. From there, of course, your dropped guests have access to Disney transportation to all the parks.

When we go to WDW my parents will drop me off at DTD and I take the buses from there to where I want to go. This yr they dropped me off and I thought I was going to the T+TC from there I'd take the monorail to Mk but the bus ended up going directly to MK. :)
