How to get characters to record messages for my daughter...

Hey so we will be in Disney about a week before my daughter's 3rd open heart. She's 7, and LOVES the Disney princesses et al. I was thinking about trying to make a little pre-recorded "get well soon" video for her recovery featuring the characters. But you think that's even possible to pull off? Would I have to go through lines twice or think they'd let me linger after she left? I don't know how to do this and I need ideas.

I don't think they'll let you linger. They have to keep the line flow moving. You could wait on your own.

Fair warning, I don't believe they are allowed to hold signs of any kind, so I'm not sure how this would work for non speaking characters.

Maybe instead of a video you could have them sign get well soon cards and you could give them all to her in recovery in a big box.

We were at DL when my daughter's friend was getting a hip replacement. We made a small sign that said "get well soon (and inserted her name)". Donald was more than happy to hold the sign up for some photos we texted to her in the hospital. Mickey and Minnie's handler refused us though. She said they couldn't do that. Thankfully Minnie read the sign and give it a thumbs up so we got to do that one as well. Not sure if a video would be different.

My point is that you might get mixed results depending on the handler.

I don't see any way you could "linger" to make that happen. I think you'd have to slip away from your group and go on your own.

I know someone who did something similar but for a birthday Video. They recorded video at a restaurant that has characters. So they ended up having a lot more time with the charactersthen you would in a line.

I'm pretty sure it was 1900 park fair.

What a great idea! We ask characters to speak all the time for us to video. As long as you have a fastpass you can get your own time with the character - I bet it will take less than a minute. If there is someone else with you and your daughter, have them take her away and you can ask the character to say something while you record it. It won't take that long. For the non speaking characters - you can have them blow her a kiss - we have done that and it comes our great in our videos.
