How to get a lot of dream Tinkerbell pins (accidental observation)

Okay, just got back from WDW yesterday. We were there for 9 days. During this time, DD8 and DD4 got at least 15 sets of Tinkerbell pins, the ones where you get to keep one and give one away. We lost count after 15. This is nice since it gave DDs extra trading pins but also gave them something extra to do as they try to decide which little girls they pass to give the special pins to.

This is my unscientific observation on how to get tons of these Tinkerbell pin sets -

1) Get a little girl, like DD4.
2) Give her a pin lanyard.
3) Load it up with Tinkerbell pins.
4) And have her seek out other Tinkerbell pins from CMs.
5) When CMs do not have a Tink pin on his/her lanyard, from my observation, at least one time out of 3 or 4, the CM will pull out this special dream Tink pin packet and give it to DD4.

We did not do this on purpose. But this was what happened to us (DD4 wanted to collect Tink pins to start with) by accident and I think it helped :)

In heaven there may be no beer, but in WDW there are Tinkerbell pins.
Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the tip! Will be there in 3 weeks, will give it a try!

Good luck, everyone :)

One note about this, a lot of CMs do not like it when the kids are trading, especially the CMs with green lanyards (they can only trade with kids 12 or under I believe), and the parents are hovering over pointing out what to and what not to trade. It does takes the magic and fun out for the kids. DW and I always stay out of the kids' way when they trade and let them have fun with it. If they get a pin that we think we should keep, because it is something that we want for our pin frame to remind us of the trip, we put it on our own lanyards and give the kids a trader pin to replace it.

Also, if the CM does not seem busy and seem content for some small conversation, we always take the chance to chit-chat with them. It makes the CMs feel that they're not just pin cushion to be taken advantage of :) We try to encourage the DDs to do the same so they get some interaction with the various CMs from various parts of the country/world. Good learning opportunities! Truthfully, we have more fun with these random pin-trading CMs than with the actual Disney characters!

Disney characters are scripted yawners :) CMs, on the other hand, are interesting humans! Some of our best conversations and stories come from pin-trading CMs and Photopass camera people.

And CMs give out random little dreams - characters don't :) We got several "VIP" passes to the rides because we took the time, talk with CMs, found out we're from same part of the country or have similar hobbies, etc. Of course, we did not start out doing this just to get bonus points. But it turned out to be nice side effect. YMMV.

Have fun trading!
