does anyone know if it is possible for disney to "look up" where we might have stayed in the 1970's? I wonder if they have that stuff on computer or if they just pitched it.....i would assume they have some sort of record....anybody?

Hi

In the 70's you had very little choices. The values weren't built. WL,AK,POR, Coronado weren't there yet. I don't think even GF was there. If you remember sleeping in the woods, it was the FW. If you saw lots of plants, Poly. If you noticed the monorail going thru the resort, Contemporary. If you walked alot to get to the food, Carribbean Beach.

I have to look up when the resorts were built. Now, I'm curious.

Susan

PS. Maybe it was the Disney Inn, now SOG. Did you noticed a stove, or dishes? Maybe this was built after the 70's. Got to look this up!!

CBR not there in the 70's.
HOw bout the Disney Inn ???
Would have to have been either that or Poly or Contemp I would think.
Good Luck!

Contemporary
Polynesian
Golf Resort (no monorail, would probably remember the golf courses and/or Mickey shaped pool)

Poly & Contemporary opend in 1971. The Golf Resort (name changed to the Disney Inn and then Shades of Green) opend in 1973-1974. The next Disney Resort, Grand Floridian, opened in 1988. I believe the Caribbean opend in 1989.

Poly and Contemp opened in 1971
FW I believe also opened in 1971
Disney Inn opened around 73 or 75
Disney Village resorts (homes, townhouses and tree house units I believe opened in late 1970's, maybe 77 or 78)

I know that CBR, GF, OKW opened up at various times toward the mid to late 1980's. I believe Swan and Dolphin opened in mid 80's as well.

BC/YC I believe was somewhere in late 88, 89 or 1990

PO, Dixie Landings opened up around 1990/91/92

Then I think that the AS opened in 93/94, WL 94, CSR 95, Boarwalk & Villas 96, WL Villas 99

BC villas in 2002, Pop 2003 and SSR 2003.

Not really sure how the ones in the 80's opened but a few of them all opened around the same time. I know that Disney does have some things on records since mid 90's because everytime I call they reread them to me on occasion (oh I see that you stayed here in 1996, would you like to stay there again, blah, blah.)

what i seem to remember is a condo like place to stay. i know it was onsite........we had a problem with the cleaning staff going thru our stuff.......my dad's favorite leather jacket (black leather blazer type.......70's style all the way) was stolen........you'd think my parents would remember the place where that happened....but they don't .....go figure. i remember going to eat at the poly....& wishing we were staying there instead of a condo (which reminded me of the ones we stayed at when we'd go to perdio key every year!). i do recall liking the bath tub for some reason....maybe bc it had jets in it....but i was 7 or 8 so that would be reasonable!

yecats, i think it may have been the disney villages....i know it wasn't on the monrail line (i remember being jealous of cousins who ALWAYS stayed at the contemp)...........what reminded me was the pics of the treehouses that someone posted on an earlier thead....

thanks everybody for trying to help me to remember! 1977 or '78 was a long time ago!:Pinkbounc

The Villages had a couple different styles of accomodations. In addition to the treehouses, there were townhouse style accomodations which have since been torn down, and DVC at Saratoga Springs is now there.

I remmebet those townhouses, but cannot recall the Disney name - was it Disney Village Resort Twonhouses and Tree House Villas?

I have an old postcard from when we stayed on site (1982?). It says Disney Villas. We stayed there but for the life of me I can't even remember what they looked like inside.

I have been trying to recall (the actual name) where we stayed in '82. It was a condo/townhouse type of lodging. Can't believe I've forgotten!
