How to clean a hammock??

How on Earth do I clean one of these things?? We bought it two years ago when we moved South and it's starting to fade (obviously) but it's also dirty. I'm not sure how to clean the actual part you sit/lay on. It's a light green woven fabric (purchased at Target).

I've never had a hammock, so take that into consideration, but can you put it in the washer?

Maybe on the delicate/gentle cycle?

I have a rope hammock, you can't put it into the washer or dryer because of the wood and chains but I always take a bucket of bleach water and a scrub brush to mine.

My dad took his and put it in a rubbermaid container with soap and water and oxy clean.. then rised and let dry... if its white you might be able to bleach it?

No washer...it's got long wood pieces on each end and it attached to the frame with chains. I wish it was that easy!

I didn't think about oxyclean...I'll have to give it a shot this weekend. I've tried just scrubbing it and that didn't help...

I would just use Dawn dish soap and a rubbermaid tote. You could then hang it on the hammock stand and use a high pressure attachment on your hose to rinse it off. You could even just try the high pressure wash to start.

If you have a boating store near you ask for some canvas cleaner.
It is a spray can of some kind of cleaner for boat canvas. You spray it on and wait a few minutes then spray it off with a hose. Very easy and works great. I used it on some canvas cushions I had in the back yard and they came out great.
The cleaner is "green" so it won't harm grass or anything if it goes down the drains.

We do have a boat store here...I might have to try that. I like "very easy" right now...too much to do before the in laws get here!
