DS lent his camel back water canteen to a friend. He got it back and it has algae in it. I have thought about a 10% bleach solution, swimming pool algaecide, etc but I don't want to ruin it. Any thoughts? Do you think a sporting good store would have a disinfectant type cleaner?

Yes, a sporting goods store will have lots of supplies to help you clean this out.

One thing that we have is a whole kit to help you clean it, and it will include something in it to keep the bladder open so it will air out and dry. and a brush in it to help get all the spots in it clean.

Any camping store or sports store will probably have a whole section of items for these types of things.

When we use DFi's, he takes the bladder out and hangs it up to dry. To clean it, he purchased a kit which has a long brush and some kind of cleaner in it. He got it off a website, and I think it was under $10 for the whole kit.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. This will be a challenge. I saw something floating in the tube. Yuck!!

I'm sorry I would just buy another bladder and chalk it up to not lending it out again. Buy the cleaning kits for your use they do work great but if it's that bad I wouldn't want to risk it for a few dollars..
