How to choose Palos night on Eastern Magic?

Hi everyone -
I'm trying to decide which night would be best for us to book the Palos night on our 7 night Eastern Cruise in July. Any suggestions? I know our kids don't want to miss any of the special nights either - especially the animators palate show, and the lobster night. I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks and have a great day!

When we cruised 2/22/03 Eastern we had APLAPL seating and went to Palo on Sunday, our first trip to Parrot Cay. We had the earliest reservation, 6 pm which was great. Palo wasn't very busy so we were able to chat with Marco from Italy, who is the best. He was able to show us extra attention as they had some empty tables because it was so early. Also at that time the sun was setting and we got a great table by the window.

Sorry, I digress, now back to your original question. This night worked out perfect as it was not a special night and we had seen the Parrot Cay that morning for the character breakfast.

Check out castawayclub.com for Navigators and it should list the special nights as I do not believe they change.

Hi! We were on the March 8 sailing of the Magic.

When we went to make our Palo reservation, there was a board there indicating what nights were the special event nights in the restaurants. We used this to make sure that we didn't miss any of the shows during the week while we were getting our Palo fix!

Salvatore from Palo was taking the reservations and he helped us make sure that we chose the right Palo night so we didn't miss anything.

I hope you have a great cruise - we sure did!

Interesting aside here: Salvatore and Marco are brothers. Both are among our favorite crew members on the Magic.

So if you miss you 1st night at Parrot Cay you wont miss anything? I know they said don't miss th 1st night for the Animators because of the light showing. Does Parrot Cay do anything special we wouldn't want to miss?

Thanks,

and we choose Thursday, Captain's Gala Formal Night (also Lobster night). Don't stop reading yet - you indicated you didn't want to miss lobster night - well, we didn't!

We enjoyed the Captain's reception AND we had lobster! The lobster was a special up at Palo, and it was the best lobster we ever had (better than the lobster I remember eating in the dining room in 2001). DH says the tails were at least 2lbs each - they were scrumptous!

Our dining rotation was PLA, so that meant we would miss Animator's as the dining locale - fine with us. The "show" was the first night in Animator's, so no problem there. While the dining room menu for that night is fine, the Palo menu was even better.

My recommendation would be to review the particular menus and see if one does not appeal to you. I would stay in your particular restaurant for tropical night (Wednesday) and Animator's the first scheduled night so you can see the show. You may want to spend the last night dining with your kids. Past that, any night would be a winner!

Other posters recommended double dipping dinner - that is a good idea too! Just be sure not to fill up at your dinner because Palo is wonderful....

My DH made up a spreadsheet. It had the three possible rotations, then we did 1st choice, 2nd choice, etc. for brunch, dinner and tea. We kept in mind special nights and blocked off nights we did not want to miss in the regular dining rooms. We will bring it with us on our trip. It took about a half an hour to do, but we will be ready at reservation time. It saves us from trying to figure it out in line. Hope this helps.

We like Saturday night, yes the first night out. Palo doesn't have alot of ressies that night so it's easy to get one. We usually have early seating so we make our ressies at Palo for 7:30. We do go to our rotation dinner so we can meet our table mates and also so our DD has some dinner before she heads off to the Oceanears Club for the night. BTW-we try not to eat anything at our first dinner.

We had LAPLAPL on the March 8th Eastern and did Palo on our first night in Animator's (Sunday) which was formal night so we were already dressed up and didn't have to miss the Color in Animators. I don't remember anything special in Parrot Cay on our First nite dining there.
