Some posts have talked about room card readers- what are these and where are they accepted.

I was under the impression that the snack carts, ie ice cream, popcorn etc, only took cash, am I right or wrong?

Thanks

Some carts take cards, and some don't. No really hard fast rule, just plan on having enough cash on hand incase a cart cannot take it. $30-50 a day I would think would be enough for a family. I know for sure the fried dough stand at Epcot only takes cash.

If you are staying in a Disney resort, your room keys have the option of adding charging priviliges to them. You will be asked about this when checking into your resort. You can use your room key/room charge card at any of Disney's shops and restaurants. It seems that most of the stationary carts (popcorn, ice cream, pretzels, etc.) now have a register that accepts room charges. Only the roving vendors, such as the moving drink carts, moving ice cream carts, and the people with the light-up gadgets and balloons, won't be able to do a room charge. Hope this info helps! :)

SO would you actually charge it to the room and pay before you leave or would it go on your charge card????

If you charge anything to your room via your resort card they will be charged to the credit card you gave at check-in time. If you have accepted this option it makes life at WDW very easy. We always charge our meals so we don't have to carry a lot of cash around. The category of the resort determines when the charge is sent to your credit card company. I believe the value resorts hit your card at $500.00, the moderates at $1,000.00 and the deluxe resorts at $1,500.00.
You can always stop at the front desk and ask for a print out to look over your billing statement. They will provide this to you at checkout also.
You can begin charging to your room card the moment you finish checking in until you leave WDW on your checkout date. Anything you charge after check-out will be added to your credit card bill.

Hi Robin in NC, this is Deb in NC! :)

When you use your room key/room charge, the amount gets charged to your room. Then, everything gets charged to your charge card on your last night there. However, if you want to pay by cash or check, you can stop by your resort's front desk the night before to do this before the balance gets charged to your charge card. Hope this info helps! :)
