How to book Day Room at Atlantis?

Has anyone booked a day room at the Atlantis lately? Do I just call from the ship early in the morning to check on availability. Can I reserve then or do I actually have to go to the Atlantis & inquire? We are going in Feb. & am not sure how the weather will be.

I asked the same question two weeks ago. Got a lot of help from some nice people. This is what I have been able to find out. They will not book ahead of time. If they have availability when you arrive they might give you a day room. I heard from people who called when they got to port and others who went over there. The people who went to the Atlantis some times got the run around. The hotel actually has three different tower/sections. Each section has a different check in area. One group had to go to all three desks before they were able to get a room. During peak time and spring break I heard they don't do it at all. I am not sure of the price. Some say they paid $150. But I am sure it changes throughout the year. At the Atlantis you can get up to 5 wristbands to use the pools and see the big dig. If you go through the Comfort Inn and Suites (They have an agreement with the Atlantis) you get 4. The other option is to book a regular overnight room. The room probably won't be ready when you get there but you can get your wristband. The rate would also be higher. I am going in April and will try when I get there. Let us know what you end up doing. If anyone else has some input or suggestions would love to hear them.

What if you book it online? The hotel can't say no. I think I would book it online then this way you will be guaranteed you will have a room there. You just have to check out early before the ship leaves. Again, the hotel can't tell you no you can't leave early. Good luck.

For those of you who have called from the ship? Does anyone know the phone no. to call once you're in port? I'm assuming it's not the 1-800 #. Also, can you use a cell phone to call out or will you need to call from the ship & pay $6.95/min. Also, we are going to be 2/7 - it's a Mon. - would this be high season?

I'm not quite sure I understand you question correctly. You can book a room on line or over the phone ahead of time and use it simply for the day. This is not a day room though. A day room at a hotel is something different. It's a program that some hotels offer where you use the room only for the day and not over night and the rates are cheaper. At the Atlantis, the day room is you booking a room the day of use, you can't do this prior. You take your chances that the hotel is booked solid and they don't offer this that day. The upside of this is if the weather is terrible you don't have a room reserved, the rates are cheaper and you can have 5 people in your party versus the 4 that you can have by booking the room ahead of time. You also have the room ready the minute you arrive in the am versus the regular chec in time of 3 or 4 pm. The downside is that if you have your heart set on spending the day at the Atlantis you run the risk of not begin able to go.

Both times we did this I called from the ship as soon as we arrived. My cell phone didn't work in the Bahamas for some reason. It was about a $12 call. I was preregistered, knew I had the room prior to packing up and taking a cab over there, and had the room prior to anyone from any other cruise ship who ran over there to book a day room. To me it was well worth the $12. I don't have the option of booking the room ahead of time to guarantee it as I have 5 in the party. And also we paid $250 for a room in the Royal Tower versus the $480 that it would have been if I had pre-reserved it like you do any other hotel room.

In Sept. I booked a room at Atlantis for April 1 (Comfort Suites requires a 2 night booking beginning April 1 so that was not a cheaper alternative in this case) for myself, DH, and DD so that while we are in Nassau we can take advantage of all that the Atlantis hotel has to offer. I also called a few days ago to inquire about a "day room", explained that we were arriving on a cruise ship and would be there an entire day and would like to have a room and use the facilities. I went on to explain that I was not asking to book a day room now as I understood that it had to be done on the day the ship pulled into port (if extra rooms were available) but that I just wanted to see what the rate for such a room was as compared to the regular room rate. I was promptly informed in a not so polite manner that they do not do "day rooms". The highly aggrevated agent's words were something along these lines...."if we sold a day room to every person on a cruise ship nobody else would want to stay here because it would be so crowded. Do you want to book a room or not?" I responsed by thanking her for her assistance and informed her that I had already booked a room and hoped that the service that we encountered when we arrived was not as "lacking in friendlyness and enthusiasm" as this phone conversation had been.

DD has really wanted to go to Atlantis for a vacation for the past 2 yrs. but I have read several reports that indicate that the service is somewhat lacking and I have refused to pay the prices that they charge for bad service. So this stop was supposed to be a chance to "give it a try for ourselves" and then potentially book a trip if things were up to the normal standards of a resort at this price point. I can honestly say though, that if we are treated in the same manner when we are there in person that I was on the telephone - we will NOT be returning to Atlantis and I will indeed be promptly speaking with a manager and complaining. I will not be treated as a second rate customer when I am paying over $400 for a one night stay at this resort (or any other for that matter)! The fact that I am only using the facilites for a day makes no difference to me - we are still paying a TON of money and expect to receive the same service as any other person staying at the hotel.

You know. As much as I thought the resort was beautiful and had a lot to offer. I also think it's very over rated!!
I don't think I would pay that much to stay at this resort. The lines for the slide and lazy river were very long, the pool was crowded.The food and beverage prices were very high. A walk to anywhere was VERY long.
When I was inquiring about things at the front desk, they were answered very business like, not very friendly.
I think all this would get tiring after a while. I can think of a lot of other really nice beach vacation resorts for half the price!
As far as visting while ona cruise, are there any other beach resorts around where you can use the pool and beach at a fraction of the cost? The Dig was really cool but the rest is really just a pool and beach.
