DH & I are looking into the purchase of a DVC but we really love the Grand Floridian as well. If we wanted to stay there, could we use our DVC points towards a regular room? If so, is there somewhere listing how many points, and how would I go about making the reservation? Thanks!

Staying at the Grand Floridian will cost you anyway from 41 points per night during weeknights in the value season (garden view), to 183 points per night for weekends during holiday season (Royal Palm Club).

Regular season runs March 30-July 19 and Oct 2-November 29. A week in a garden view room will cost you 405 points.

And using your points to stay at a non-DVC resort at WDW incurs an additional charge of $95.

It's not necessarily the best way to use your DVC points, but if you want to do that, you would call Member Services, the same number you would call to book a stay at a DVC resort.

It's also important to remember that the point cost for non-DVC resorts are NOT fixed. They can and do go up every year, and there's no restriction on how high they can go. You could easily find in a few years that you no longer have enough points to stay at GF.

If you're only going to use your points at GF once every several years, it's not a big deal. But if you see yourself wanting to stay at GF more often than DVC resorts, using DVC points is not the best way to do that. You'll almost certainly get GF cheaper by paying cash.
