How to Avoid the Brazilian Tour Groups?

A screaming baby in the next room can alter my sleep pattern.
A person hogging 2 parking spaces can alter my parking situation.
A person pushing ahead of me in line can move me back a bit.
A person chanting can override what I need to hear.
A group cutting in front of me on a ride can move me back a lot.
A person not paying attention can walk right into my ECV.
A person doing something stupid might hurt me physically.

And...what else is new? That's life! :thumbsup2

I don't think anyone is blaming these large groups for all of their discomfort. I think people are just venting about some of the situations that are frustrating to them. I agree, you can't let it consume your mood, it's life. However, having spent 90% of my Disney trips with these large groups, it feels like everything you listed above repeated 20 times per day, each day of the trip. It does tend to get a little frustrating :thumbsup2

All of that may be true, but the fact remains that the screaming tour groups ARE the source of THAT discomfort. What's your point? That people should just get over it? I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation to not have rides/shows disrupted by such behavior.

As I've mentioned in other threads. I've been in january and July and encountered well behaved tour groups. But if they were yelling DURING the rides and shows, I would have been hopping mad. People who have experienced this rude and disruptive behavior are justifiably angry about it.

We were at WDW in late January. Stayed at All-Star Movies. There were a lot of tour groups the whole week. They were South American but also some dance groups. Our biggest frustration was the food court at the resort. In past trips we would eat breakfast there before heading for the parks. It was impossible this trip. We ate there our last morning before leaving the world, it was later in the morning. Coming back to the resort in the evening wasn't much better but we usually just needed to refill our mugs so we didn't try to find seats.

We didn't have any issues in the parks with groups.

I loved the time of year. Past trips have always been during the summer months. I think we'll be saving for a moderate for our next January trip.

Your post refers to "a person" as in a singular human being. This thread is about large quantities of "persons" (plural). One person doing one or more of the things you listed is a very different animal than 100 persons doing them in unison. See the difference?

Uh no I'm going to guess they don't.:rolleyes1

And can I say poor babies can't help crying. It's how they communicate. Theyre always getting thrown under the bus for being annoying :(

Now hordes of full grown Brazillians chanting. Yep they can control themselves, unlike babies who cannot help themselves they rudely and selfishly choose not to.

And then they run over the poor baby in a fp and don't even stop to yell the Portugese word for sorry.

And guess what the baby is going to cry again and you're going to get annoyed at the baby and here it was not baby's fault- it was the BTG!!:scared1:

Is there an app for that? lol maybe a translation app to say end of the line when they try to cut in front. Even the cm's could use that! but in saying that I really dont let them bother me. If I see a large group going to an attraction I just usually move on to another on and come back to that one later. We go with the flow and dont let to much bother us.

I really don't have an issue with the Tour Groups. I think they are FUN to watch. Sometimes I can see how they are annoying to some, but they are kids. I imagine if I traveled across the world (at their age) to visit a theme park I'd have what I think is 'big fun'. I've even had a couple of them in vacation pictures. I think it's cute. I was a little annoyed one evening leaving MK around midnight. A couple of them were singing LOUDLY. Some guys screams at them, "knock it off" - they did :rotfl: People started clapping. It was funny. I was no longer annoyed!

We just returned from a late January early Feb trip this year and there were tons of tour groups. We go the same week each year but there were definitely more. On the whole, they are ok. Yes the chanting is annoying but they're kids. The most problematic thing was when they get into a fast pass line. I thought about 200 people were going to revolt on Rock n roller coaster. Our wait time was 25 minutes but we waited for and hour and twenty minutes. We of course all blamed the group, but really it was the CM. When we got to the room where the two lines meet, she was letting in 20 FP and 2 Standby.
So really it was the CM making it worse. Later that night a nice young man offered to let my little ones stand in front of him so they would have a better view of wishes :worship: It was then I realized I'd better lighten up. What American teen would have done that lol:rotfl2:

We have not had negative experiences with touring groups so my perspective may be different than those that have. Disney has to be one of the most diverse populations of people on earth, and it is one of the things I love about it. I enjoy just sitting and watching all the different people.

There were no tour groups yesterday thanks to rain. Then again, I was only at Epcot for 2 hours.

I have been in two lines at disney parks where a rude teenager from Brasil ended up bloodied on the floor or with an injured foot when they tried to cut past a large guest at high speeds. The reaction from the guests waiting in a hot line was clear when they stepped over the boy.

When we heard that Disney won't let kids in the park under a certain age without an adult - we started wondering if this will put a small dent in the problem. In any case I can share with you that (without injury) nobody has ever succeeded in cutting in front of our group. Its a universal way of dealing with crowds on subways, sporting events and other traffic jams overseas.

Longing4Disney, I just want to note that your grammar and written English is better than most Americans who have been through our educational system. I would never have even picked up you were from another country.

I am going in July. I have been told over and over again that this is the month of the "Brazilian Tourist groups" I had NO IDEA what that meant until I saw this thread.

I have gone mostly in March and May. I have rarely seen a tourgroup other than some daycares and schools. NEVER a single Brazilian one and I've been to Disney 4 times since 2009. lol

We have always taken precautions to plan our trip around busy days. I hear October is really a pleasant time to go.

Oh my gosh we used to call them flag wavers. They used to carry yellow flags and when they got close to the front of the line they would wave it and hoards of kids would come running. I am not sure if they do that now but they were so rude.

we were there the first week of february when the "fifteens" groups were there. we didn't really have any problems, i saw a lot of large groups but they were rarely going our direction.

the only thing that i will admit was kind of annoying was when you were leaving the park at night and they were waiting for a bus to their resort and they would sing so loudly and annoyingly. i know it's disney world and they are just having fun too, but it was almost like they knew people were irritated with them and they just didn't care. i don't have kids or anything but there was a lot of tired and sleeping children late at night waiting to get on the bus and go home and then they would come along screaming and shouting and i could see some parents just wishing they would be a bit less obnoxious.

We had them at fantasmic. They were actually kinda funny as they were desperately trying to kick start a wave but couldn't get it going.

Lucky me, I get to experience the BTG this July. :crazy2:

That said , the worse tour group I have EVER had the displeasure to meet was a group of 75 American teens in Paris.

We were taking a boat trip on the Seine and they yelled, hollered, screamed, and ran around the boat like wild creatures...all the while the chaperones looked on with approval.

Believe me, about half way through the boat trip the group (including the adults ) got an earful from me. Things got a bit quieter..and at least I could hear the commentary.

I have no problem being confrontational if I have to. I would prefer to walk away but it's quite hard to do on a boat ( or in a line )

I have never had a bad experience with the tour groups. They are typically nice teenagers who speak English and sometimes sing really loudly, which is a bit annoying I'm not going to lie, but personally I have no problem with them. I know many have stories where they have been obnoxious, cut in line, and been rude but I wouldn't go into the park, look for them, and go "there's trouble right there". They shouldn't be a problem for you, and if they do just tell a CM.

I was talking to a CM friend and they said her manager told her for every 56 people in a tour group that comes consistently, Disney can hire one more person. Have no idea if that is true but it seemed such an odd statement I figured I'd share it here.
