How to avoid kids

Don't forget our friends in the Southern Hemisphere! There are kids in September and October on school break! DS met a kindred spirit from Brazil! They write letters to each other-I know, old school snail mail, but it's good for kids to learn to write!

I am planning a kid free 4 days for Thanksgiving. DH will play golf and I think I will take a tour while he plays. I am going to do things that really don't interest the kids so much such as visit all the lands in world showcase and take one of age restricted tours. We will also sleep later than when we have kids with us and stay for the late EMH.

Glad to see others "get" the OP's question!

I know I already posted, but I just feel that I have to add more...

LOTS of us love Disney and don't have kids! We might have kids in our lives that we love (for example, my nieces are awesome! They are cuter than any other kids out there!) But we don't know your kids and don't have to love them! Nor do we have to love renegade strollers - or the crazy young kid whose parents let him go crazy on the ECV! (Yes, we experienced that in Epcot two weeks ago.)

No one is asking how to see NO KIDS! Some of us just like to head out when there are smaller amounts of them. I get kind of irked when parents tell people that if you don't want to see lots of kids, you shouldn't go to Disney World. We can go to Disney if we like, thank you very much! I can tell you that you can avoid the times when they are most prevalent!

there was a thread a while back. the OP was asking which resorts had the least amount of kids.

someone actually questioned the "psychology" of someone wanting to go to Disney and avoid a lot of kids. we all know disney has a lot of kids; we are just sharing info about when and where to see "fewer".

It's just a fact that some resorts have less kids than others and that's all the OP of that thread wanted to know. (like coronado is a convention resort, and has a lot more adults, etc.)

OP, if you go during the slower times, when school is in session, you WILL see a lot of families with little kids (preschool age).. lots of strollers.

we just went in July (for the first time ever in July) and never again. tons of Brazilian tour groups...teens. lots of loud chanting (esp. on the buses),chanting and singing during shows, lots of line cutting, etc etc.

we like the Epcot resorts, lots of adult things to do, and a short walk to epcot. I know they're pricier (we rented points at BC and BW), but the Dolphin is reasonably priced, and seems to have less kids, too. while they don't have Magical Express, they do have the EMH.

Not our first trip but we are heading out the end of sept and are pulling our 3rd and 4th grader out! A lot more parents pull their
kids out than you think! We don't want to deal with the crowds either!

I vote Labor Day week. it's the first week back for northern schools, so people don't usually pull their kids out of school the first week back. we go every year this week, and it's usually kids under 5 and people from other countries that have different school schedules.

:) This Dec trip will be the 10th for DH and I. We do not have children. We no longer do the character meals, simply because there is a lot of noise and running around which would be expected. When we eat at WCC we like to sit in the far back corner..great steaks...no children around us they are out in the main dinning area to enjoy the festivities...which is fun to watch. The last couple of years I have noticed more noise in the signature restaurants and late dinning by families with children. I know I cannot avoid this but it would be great to have a nice quiet diiner at Cali Grill...just not going to happen anymore. I bring glow bracelets to give children at the hard ticket events and we do enjoy seeing them have a good time.

Just remember to take everything with a grain of salt. When there is a noisy table next to you...enjoy the meal and move on. So all of the PP have given you great advice. Some of the tours do not allow children under the age of 16 which is nice--don't want to destroy the magic. I sometimes avoid shopping before and after parades due to the crowds in the stores along Main Street. We do Fantasyland at night and wait in line with everyone else and have fun. There is so much to do that you will find your happy place somewhere.

I hope to check out the Rix Lounge at CSR this Dec. It looks awesome on the website...love the DJ's mix.

Prior to this past year and DVC we always stayed at Values, except of 2006 when we stayed at POFQ. It was very quiet there. If you stay at a Value, stay in the back away from the pools on the third floor...very quiet.

Just pick a time when kids are normally in school, September to June. But certain times of the year there are events and or trips that bring kids into the park.

I would say the best no kids time would be September. All the schools are back in session and no parent is going going to pull there kids out of school for a trip right at the start of school.

Also I don't know all he dates but there are things like Jersey Week where all (?) the schools in New Jersey have days off for state wide teacher conferences.

LOL! My husband and I pull our kids out of school during Labor Day week every year to go to Disney for their birthdays! We just take their schoolwork with us and they work on it while we eat breakfast in our villa. The reason we do is because the parks are less crowded, except for weekends, when the locals frequent Disney.

We go without our kids once in awhile so I know what you mean. Best time of year is definitely Sept-Oct. Avoid Fantasyland in the MK because kids are everywhere, but go between 1-3 (when many will be in their resorts napping) or LATE in the evening. One of the best adult areas is definitely World Showcase at EPCOT. If you go in the fall, you can enjoy the Food and Wine Festival. I agree with the swimming pools. Try to use one of the "quiet pools". Another great place is the Boardwalk area. I love it there at night because it is beautiful. My husband and I love walking around the lake and going to some of the night clubs and restaurants there. Don't forget to go check out different resorts because many of them have little bars or pubs that are pretty much kid-free. One of our favorites is Martha's Vineyard, at the Beach Club Resort. Schedule your meals for around 8pm or later. Take advantage of the Extra Magic hours. Do you golf? Disney has some awesome golf courses!

someone mentioned tours. the segway around the WORLD TOUR IS GREAT!!! no little ones, and as you get to zip around on your segway, you get a "tour' of world showcase before it is open!
renting the little sea mice ()sprites, whatever) is fun, but pricey (even tho they go SO slow) it's quiet out on the lagoon or bay lake (or the sassagoula river)

I didn't read the whole thread, so I apologize if I repeat anything...

Spas - I think GF and SS have one.
Wishes cruise
bars in general should be mostly kid free
Cali Grill will have some kids, but they should be well behaved ("should" being the operative word)
Tea at GF

I think you should be able to enjoy some kid-free time. Enjoy!

:confused3:confused3 I'm really confused as to why this is a touchy subject for some. I highly doubt the OP was asking how to not see a single child on their whole vacation, but tips on what areas/times of the day/events/etc... Are less frequented by kids. I don't see anything wrong with this... Disney world is for EVERYONE.

OP; Thanks for asking this. DBF and I are going to be at the World for the first time in Feb. and was I was wondering the same thing! We planned a lot of TS restaurants (DXDP!) and plan to take the parks at a more relaxed pace. Lots of FP's & late nights.

I'd love to hear any more experiences of adults only trips! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2, my husband go with and with/out the kids and we have a blast. I think that if you go later as already suggested and on the **adult** side of WDW then all will be fine. We love heading out in the late afternoons till wee hours of the morning and have found that to be the best way to get some w/o kids time. Relaxing around the resorts during the day is also another way since it is likely that all the "kids" are in the park. I know from experience that you and your wife will have a blast.:wizard:

Skip WDW and go to an adult only resort.

Kids and WDW go hand in hand

I like the idea os the Disney cruise...as long as you know(which it sounds you do) that you will see kids all times and places you will enjoy your adult only vacation...there are ways to avoid kids.

We went in September last year (9/11- 9/19) and noticed that most of the kids were under 5 or 6 years old, which makes perfect sense since the older ones were in school. We saw mostly couples, like us, and younger families.

It was nice not to have to deal with mobs of obnoxious tweens & teens running around trying to impress each other with their obnoxiousness.

But really, if you want to avoid children, then avoid Disney World. They've really infested the whole place, at all hours of the day & night. ;)
I agree we go in Sept every year and there are not alot of older kids just a few younger ones....I don't even notice but then again I'm too busy enjoying my own kids and time with my family to notice anyone else.

I would say the best no kids time would be September. All the schools are back in session and no parent is going going to pull there kids out of school for a trip right at the start of school.
We take our kids out for 2 weeks in Sept right after school starts...I can justify doing it then because it is mostly review time and we take homework with us!

I will also like to add that yes WS may not have a lot of kids but my kids LOVE doing the kidcot stops and this year we are trying out KIM POSSIBLE game...Avoid Fantasyland and go to quiet pools. You will se kids at CR due to CM's another place is DHS...we tend to not spend too much time there because it really does not interest the kids as much as MK, Epcot and AK do. AK has a lot of areas that you can be secluded.

I think if you prepare yourself that you will see kids you will be fine...I think you won't even realize them cause you will be having some quality time with your spouse not strrangers. This is my take on it anyways.
Also couples massage and things at the spa are great too...maybe rent a little boat at POR/CBR or another resort for some time alone. Golf...V&A...there are plenty to do for couples just like there is plenty to do for families....

Have you looked at Touring plans for Adults? It would give you some great ideas!

Not everyone has their children in public school. We homeschool and will be there in September.

Its all about numbers, since most k-12 students have a traditional sept to june school year and are in school in sept its more likely that WDW will have less kids then. I think even year round schools are in session in September.

Though now that both of my sons are in college and will be completely done with finials may 1 that is when we plan to go.

The sad news is that they just announced the discounts for next year and for now no free dining or any other discount that I can see. :sad1:

We take our children to WDW at least seven\h times a year...we home school as well. There are lots of other places that childless couples can enjoy besides WDW. I think it is funny that kids would be an issue for you at WDW.
