How to avoid kids

I know it may be against the spirit of Disney, but I was wondering what are the best times/events that would avoid huge rushes of kids running around.

I'm planning a trip with my wife, and although we have nothing against the little guys, we are hoping to be able to relax from all the mayhem at least for a portion of the trip.

Any tips would be hugely appreciated!

The key to avoid kids is abstinence. Oh you mean while at WDW. I would spend more time at the world showcase. Avoid Fantasyland. Stay away from pools unless you are at a resort with a quiet pool geared to adults only.

DH and I have gone to WDW alone, and I think I hear what you are saying.....you want to be a kid, but don't necessarily want to be bombarded by them - is that correct? Well, hate to say it, but it's Disney - there will be kids everywhere at all hours. The most child dense area will most likely be Fantasyland - especially since the area is more narrow than other parts of the park. But with that said, if you hit fantasyland late in the evening (during EMH late hours if possible) it will be much better! If late evening is not an option, I would recommend as soon as the park opens - head over there and knock it out. There will be kids there, but they will be in their happy morning moods - not hot tired nappy moods. The World Showcase in Epcot will also have less children.

But personally I wouldn't worry about the kid issue - just enjoy WDW and have fun together. Besides sometimes watching kids is a huge form of entertainment in itself (their reactions to characters, rides, etc - sometimes good, sometimes not so good!)... its like live reality TV

Just pick a time when kids are normally in school, September to June. But certain times of the year there are events and or trips that bring kids into the park.

I would say the best no kids time would be September. All the schools are back in session and most parents are not going to pull there kids out of school for a trip right at the start of school.

Also I don't know all he dates but there are things like Jersey Week where all (?) the schools in New Jersey have days off for state wide teacher conferences.

My husband and I have gone on mayn a kid-free trip.

My best tip is to use evening EMH for the parks. There tend not to be a lot of younger children past about 10 pm. Also, get in some dining at later times (8 pm or later) in restaurants that are not geared to children (most world showcase restaurants fit the bill).

Really, we didn't notice kids around too much anyway. We were too busy enjoying ourselves!

I would say to avoid the parks when school is out of session.

We went in September last year (9/11- 9/19) and noticed that most of the kids were under 5 or 6 years old, which makes perfect sense since the older ones were in school. We saw mostly couples, like us, and younger families.

It was nice not to have to deal with mobs of obnoxious tweens & teens running around trying to impress each other with their obnoxiousness.

But really, if you want to avoid children, then avoid Disney World. They've really infested the whole place, at all hours of the day & night.

DH & I had a few WDW trips before having kids, and although there were times I enjoyed watching kids interact at the parks, it also made me a bit sad as we missed having kids ourselves. IMO as far as the parks go, Epcot world showcase has less than most other parks. Also, I find AK you can escape the kids for awhile. If you just want to escape from the parks & kids for awhile we always found the beach at the Poly at night worked well. Also, if there is a particular age of kids you would prefer to avoid... mornings have least teenagers, late nights have fewer toddlers. I agree early September for the best time of year to avoid kids in general. Also this happens to be least crowded & less expensive. Obviously avoid all character meals.

DH an I have done many kid free visits....1. not using disney transportation helps.2 When eating CS we look around an try to find secluded table without many kids around it an have been known to get up an move if needed. 3. TS meals avoid chracter meals they attract kids tho usually I got to say most kids have been very well behaved at the TS meals we have been to including chracter meals. 4. Otherwise DH an I look at each other an smile an say GLAD that one is not ours

Sometimes we speed up or stop for a minute if we are walking to an attraction an encounter interfearance

Another good time to go with less kids is early Jan. Still value season rates and kids are just going back to school from Christmas break.

Not our first trip but we are heading out the end of sept and are pulling our 3rd and 4th grader out! A lot more parents pull their
kids out than you think! We don't want to deal with the crowds either!

That's a funny question. I'm curious to see what others tell you EPCOT World Showcase seems adult focused to me.

Easiest way is to go when school is just getting back in session for kids, typically after labor day. This way there will still be kids in the parks, but not as many, and mostly in the 6 and under crowd.

Also avoid the parks during the weekend of Thanksgiving, the week before Christmas all the way through New Years, Spring Break (middle of March to week after Easter), and Memorial Day-Labor Day weekend are when the parks will have the most kids around Disney. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few other busy times kid wise.

Otherwise it is Disneyworld and its very hard to avoid them.

Why do you think we are going Sept 11-18? We want our little ones to have the park nearly to themselves. I hate tween drama when I'm trying to watch Wishes.
