How tight is age restriction for oceaneer club?

We'll be traveling with my 2.75 year old in September. On November 4th the 2.75 year old turns three. How tight is the age restriction? My child absolutely adores Peter Pan and Captain Hook and has been talking about the Oceaneer club for months. Now I find out that you need to be three and I am wondering if my child is very much like a three year old - potty trained, talks intelligently in full sentences - even carries on a full conversation. Will I be able to get them in?

From what I have read on this board previously, the main issue is FULL potty training. They are flexible with age. FULL training means - going to the bathroom himself, closing the door, pulling down pants, going potty, pulling back up pants (AND buttoning, perhaps). From what I remember when I took my 3 year old, the couselors will not assist the child. This is probably due to them being overly cautious about improper touching and in order to combat this, they have a no touching policy.

Go talk to the counselors in the club and graciously ask if your son may join on a trial basis. Don't be demanding. If you ask politely, I believe you will find that they will bend over backwards to accomodate you.

I don't know. I thought the child had to be within one month of their birthday? Find out beforehand so you're not disappointed on your cruise and also so you don't miss out on Flounders reservations if you need them!

The one month rule is only on paper. They will allow a child to try the next age level on a trial basis as long as there is room...and there almost always is. I have NEVER seen anyone post that they requested that their child be placed in a different age group and they were told no. I am sure that if that were to happen someone would have posted. The main thing for the almost 3 group is that they be fully PTd. If they are use to a PS situation...taking turns, standing in line, following directions...they should fit in just fine.

We had no problems getting our 2.5 year old dd in the club. Potty training does seem to be the biggest requirement and since she could handle all that independently they gave her a trial and she was fine.

Thanks so much for your replies. Yes, he is fully potty trained and I am so happy that he'll at least have a chance of experiencing the oceaneer club. YAY!
