How the Magic Spreads

I have been thinking about sharing this for quite some time because I think it's just really special and shows just how magic can spread thoughout a vacation at Disney World.

Being a seasoned Disney veteran planner, my brother asked if we'd go to Disney World with them. They were "newbies" and knew nothing and had never been there. So I started a year in advance.....I planned and planned and planned. The ins, the outs, the little known, the most popular, everything, crammed into what I STILL planned to be a "relaxing" Disney vacation for them, but doing the very most I could. I had the breakfast at CRT and even a "Gifts of a Lifetime" treat where they were given directions for a "treasure" by a "pixie", the directions lead to "pixie dust" hidden for all of us. I never told them I did it and planned it, they thought is was just another lady, spreading the magic!!!

It WAS truly magical. They loved it, my "cynical" brother who said this was his "one trip in a lifetime to Disney World", realized why we like it so much and would like to go again sometime. It was magic for me to see it all fresh and wonderful through their eyes again for the first time.

So it was our last day of this really great vacation and it was AK. We got there early and road Kali River several times in a row and then the ride broke down. Of course they efficiently got us off and we all got FP's to come back anytime during the day to ride again. We pretty much knew we had done enough, but of course took them. Most businesses would probably do this, but let's call it a little "magical start" from Disney.

We went did stuff the rest of the AM and after having lunch at Pizzafari were getting ready to leave for home. We were sitting on the benches outside of Pizzafari looking to "spread the magic" and give the FP's too another family. A family walked by and there was a little about 3 year old boys holding his dad's hand . In the other hand, he had a little bunch of flowers. He looked right at me, let go of his Dad's hand, walked over quietly and just handed me this lovely little bunch of purple flowers. (now I'm the type of mother with two grown sons who's favorite flower is the "dandelion") As hard as I worked for over a year to make my brother's vacation "magical", this little boy with one little gesture gave me a sweet magical memory of a lifetime. For a minute I was just kind of speechless, and then once I "came too" :goodvibes, I realized I could spread a little magic myself to this family and gave them our FP's. I know of no other place where this whole chain of events would have started a year before the vacation and still be spreading beautiful magical memories 1 1/2 years and several other Disney vacations later. :wizard:

Never found a thread to add this too and so I just decided to share it all on it's own. So here's to the wonderful little boy who touched my heart.

And other people wonder why we go back to Disney time and again. Thank you for a really touching story. Those parents of the little boy are raising him right!

What an awesome story!! Thanks for sharing!! I love to see Disney Magic at work...

I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. My heart is overflowing with happiness for every magical thing about Disney.

Thanks for posting a great story.

It's just Karma !!! Good things happen to good people !!!! You went out of your way to bring such joy to your family and you truly have it in your heart that it was only a matter of time before it came back to you ! Disney needs more vacationers like you ! I plan to be one of them this December. I have a few tricks up my sleeve ! :goodvibes Elisa

A couple threads on rude people/children at WDW were getting me down. I remember the wonderful guests that I had the opportunity to visit with and wonder, are these other people just magnets for rude people or what?

I wore my poor DH down to the nubbins on the last trip, so I had the chance to watch Illuminations a couple of times by myself. I met a couple different families on those nights. Wonderful people!

Thanks for starting a thread about wonderful guest behavior at WDW!

Marie

sweet story that warms the heart glad you had a fun, memorable time time .
think it proves your own attitude has a lot ot do with other's responses.

sounds nutty but evidently i walk around normally with a smile on my face(don't really intend to, just either weak face muscles or i'm crazy i guess:0) and i am amazed how many people smile in return( that's usually how i know i'm doing it ).

Lovely story - can you see me welling up? With all the posts about rude guests, lost luggage, travel mix ups and crowds it is always so nice to read something sweet. Thank you.

Perhaps complaints are legitimate, I don't know, I just know I love Disney World and DH and I use it as our "therapy away from it all". We don't NEED to do bunches of the rides anymore, or "ravage" our way through the parks. We enjoy the resort, shopping, eating out, stuff at DTD and just generally relaxing and soaking up the astmosphere. Yes, we see the arguing parents, the whining kids, etc. I feel very sorry for them, there's a definite "art" to "doing Disney". Probably not so much an art, just crazy planners like us!!!

On the SAME vacation I mentioned above,(and these are ALL things I've seen people complain about!!!) my SIL saw a father I guess literally smack his son to the ground shouting, you WILL have a good time here, look at all I've done etc., having been abused, well, I'm just glad "I" didn't see that, we did maybe see a chip of paint here and there, but we also passed painters constantly working hard to keep it looking beautiful, of course then there's the complaint that they now do this "during the day for all to see" instead of working "nights" so that we don't have to see it, really, personally I don't think it's necessary for someone to work an awful "night shift", just so I don't see them "beautifying" my vacation!!!.

We stayed at OKW and there were "lizards" all over the place, we thought they were cute, I think it adds to the authenticity and charm. My SIL went into the bathroom at the GF of all places and there was apparently blood all over the sinks, I'd much rather worry about the child that was bleeding, and I'm sure if they'd have seen it, it would have been immediately cleaned up. Things do happen before they are found out even at the most diligent places, with SO many visitors.

My pet complaint..... people did stop in their tracks right in front of us, well, I'm sorry for anyone that's been behind me, but if I'm thinking of where to go, miss it, or whatever, I do the same thing. Don't mean to, but I do and then because of this board, just keep apoligizing profusely to the people behind me.

Well, then for the kids, well, my nephew age 12 is the layed back, quiet, whatever kind. So no problems there. Then there's my niece.................
Well, there's no reason that kids are going to act any different at Disney World than they do at home or anywhere else for that matter. No matter how much you've planned, or how you "envision" it will be. My neice, then age 7, whined all the way throught the Backlot Tour, (reason, tired, hot, hungry and needed a break), complained all during my very favorite thing "Wishes", (reason, very tired), talked to the little girl next to her all during "Spectromagic" as much as I wanted her to watch the parade, (oh well, she was still having a wonderful time), just not what "I" thought she should be doing.

We didn't accomplish near what I wanted, but I decided early, that it didn't matter, they'd never been there, they didn't know what they were missing, as long as we were having a good time, nothing else mattered!!! When the kids started getting hot, tired and cranky, we took a break at the resort resting or in the pool, whatever didn't get done, didn't get done.

I didn't really care for the meal at Biergarten, but everyone else did and the polka band was neat. (Did anyone ever notice the one guy looks like John Candy???) It rained one day, but that sure made the day nice and cool. Who cares, we still went on rides and had fun.

Things were just not as "rosy" as it sounds in the OP, but THAT" s how I saw it, I saw it as a "magical" trip with loads of fun, I enjoyed the "wonderment" of my brother and family and that little boy, well, I still remember what he looked like. Random acts of kindness and you NEVER know how much it may mean to someone, or how long they will remember, or what ramifications will come of it, and THAT"S how everyone in our group saw it in the end. Stuff will happen, people will be people at Disney or out of Disney, but there's no where else that "I" know of where there's SO many different things to experience, there's SO much detail to everything, and 99% of the time and 99% of the people are just trying to make YOUR day magical. THAT"S what I go for and THAT"S what I pay for. It's just really hard explaining it and those that "get it" will understand, and those that don't, well, then it's not your cup of tea. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. There's many things I really don't enjoy either. We're all different and that's what makes us all special!!!

I should say SO FAR my Disney Vacations have "in general" been wonderful, but I MAY NOT BE TALKING SO POSITIVELY IN 3 WEEKS. LOOK AT MY TAGLINE AND WHO WE'RE "TREATING" TO A DISNEY VACATION!!! :guilty: YIKES!!! Will keep you posted................may need a whole truckload of pixie dust!!! :wizard:

what a touching sweet story. :drinking1 a toast to you for spreading the magic.
