Let’s say that i have current UY that i could post.. why would be better transferring than renting?
Say i go through transfer.. how the transaction is made so that both parties are comfortable?
Thanks...

The difference is that with renting you control the reservation And can book for anyone, whether they are a DVC owner or nit. With a transfer, you send the points to another DVC owner for them to use on their own.

Its really up to you on how you want to set things up. When I transfer, I require 100% payment and have only done so through this site.

Others have done differently.

for an owner with the points -- transferring is a one time process and you don't have to do anything more than call MS and have the points transferred.

Cons--once the points are transferred, they cannot be returned to the original owner. So if you transfer before payment is finalized, you don't have much recourse other than to sue for breach of contract, or maybe fraud/theft and get police involved. Disney will not get involved at all in the process.

So just make sure that the payment is good. If personal check -- wait like 10 days for the payment to clear before transferring points. With credit card payment -- be aware that the person could try and say the payment was fraudulent and try to get it back (I haven't heard of this actually happening -- but it could). To limit exposure here...make sure to have a signed contract so that you have something to show the credit card company that the charge was legit. If the person is using a stolen credit card -- I'm not sure what would happen.

Other option is to use the board sponsor (https://www.dvcstore.com/). They offer an escrow service in which they will list your points for transfer. They hold the money until the transaction is complete. I have no idea what they charge for this service. I'd imagine it is a % (e.g., $1-$4 pp?)...similar to the rental brokers.

But regarding a transfer, DVC says that transfers do not have a cost associated with them. So technically, they are free to the guest getting the points. If you transfer your points to another owner, you can't complain to DVC that you didn't get paid.
