How strict are they with the measurements for rides?

My DS finally hit 48 inches. He is just there by a hair. He is very small for his age. He is really excited and a huge HP fan so if there is any chance he won't make FJ or Spiderman i need to warn him now. we leave in less than 2 weeks so no hope for a growth spurt!

When we were last at Disney he was 44 inches in his barefeet at home. I figured he'd blow right past the stick with his shoes but not so much. It seems they raised it a bit to make sure the kids really were the right height. A couple times he was stopped and measured a couple times. They would push his hair down and all. He did make it but it was really a close call.

Is Universal that strict? Now I'm not saying he is 3 inches shorter than requirements and will put him in heels, I'm just curious if the stick is true. He will be wearing sneakers but i have no intention of putting lifts in them!

He already knows he has no chance at Hulk and is fine with that.

I'm sure he'll be fine I'm just nervous.

If they feel he is under he will be measured and sometimes more than once even on the same ride. This past trip I noticed it a lot! I think I would let him know of the possibility.

I hope he makes it though!! :goodvibes

When my youngest was just at the height requirement (or just a little shy) she was measured a couple of times. They did flatten her hair and checked her footwear to make sure she wasn't wearing overly thick bottomed shoes/flipflops but they didn't make her take them off to measure in barefeet so you should be fine. If they think you are trying to boost his height they might make him take off his shoes.

They are very strict with heights at FJ. There are multiple TMs with multiple height sticks throughout the queue. If they are unsure about his height once you get towards the ride, they may send you down the Child Swap lane to get the final word. It's also not uncommon for a TM to ask another TM to step in to get a second opinion. If a small child makes it on to the vehicle and the loader does not have confirmation that the child is tall enough, they will pull your group off and make absolutely sure that the height is checked!

So it's a lot of checking and re-checking, but it's all in the name of safety :) Just prepare him for a lot of people asking to measure him! Good luck!

Spider-Man only has a 40" height requirement, so no worries there. ROTM and Forbidden Journey are the only two rides with a 48" requirement. Also, almost every other ride will have a 48" height stick out front (in addition to the Required Height, if applicable). All of those mean that you must be 48" tall to ride solo.

And they are Very Strict with height checks. Multiple checks are to be expected; it means that the TMs are doing their jobs right (safety first, always!). :cool2:

We had the opposite experience when DD hit 48 inches last trip. I was expecting her to be measured at every ride, she was so excited to do the mummy. Not once did anyone check her.....I was surprised. Heck just the week before the pool wouldn't let her on the slide because she just hit the stick. She was prepared to be measured and maybe even not ride but no problems...now of course this was over a year ago so things change all the time.

We haven't been since 2008 but they were very adamant about checking multiple times. Our youngest is finally tall enough to ride everything so he is beyond excited for our trip in August!!

Is he 48" in bare feet at home? If so with shoes on he should be close to 50" an have no problems.

My DD was right at the 48" line (with shoes on) last trip and was measured at each ride where she was close to the limit.

My sister just returned - my nephew is 48" in his bare feet - had no problems, was measured at a few points. With sneakers, shoes, as long as they are truly 48", not a problem. Just tell him he may be measured - a lot. :)

Perfect! Yes he is 48 barefoot. I guess I should have asked how accurate which your post answers!
