How soundproof are the bathrooms at Pop (seriously)?

I can't believe I'm asking this...its a question that seems to have TMI written all over it, but I'm going to ask it anyway...how soundproof are the bathrooms at Pop in your own experiences? I've heard you can hear the toilets flush in other rooms, does that mean the walls are paper thin in the restrooms?

No, the walls are not any thinner at the value resorts than any of the other resorts.

The newer resorts at Disney have the newer type toilets. The values, AKL and SSR have turbo toilets.

The high performance of this pressure-assisted toilet is achieved by using compressed air inside the tank, which creates a turbo-charged flushing action.

These toilets save water and are very powerful so that 1 flush usually gets the job done (if you knoe what I mean.) ;)

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

I did not notice any noise from other bathrooms when we were there. Which we were so tired once we got back to the resort that we crashed and crashed hard. I don't think I would have heard anything.:faint: :faint: :faint: :faint:

You can hear the flushing, but you really cannot hear people talking/etc.

I could VERY distinctly hear the mousekeeper vacuuming in the room above me, though. I was on the first floor. It woke me up one morning around 8:30am (hey, I was on a solo trip...I wanted to sleep in).

You can also hear it pretty distinctly if the people above or next door to you slam their room door.

I am one that DOES believe that the walls are not as sound proof at the Pop as at other resorts. I've stayed at POR, ASMu, ASMo, WL, and Contemporary. The only resort where I EVER heard noise that came from another room was at Pop...

I think CBR must have the turbo-toilets too, because they are pretty powerful! Don't get too close...you might get sucked in! :lmao:

I have pretty decent hearing. (Thanks mom & Dad!)

That said, if the air conditioning unit is running or moving air, I'm hard pressed to hear much outside of my room. I can hear the occasion voices passing by the door and window.. But rarely do I hear much else at Pop.

Of course, with the unit off, I can hear more clearly. But.. usually when I go it's quite warm, so the unit is on most of the time.

I have stayed at Pop several times I cant really recall hearing the toilet flush. I have stayed at the Dolphin and hear the toilet in the next room flushing.

I had a hard time sleeping because the toilets were so loud! They were quite noisy, even with the door shut. We also had a crying baby above us and it was MNSSHP time so kids were returning at midnight hyped up on candy and running the halls while dragging a stick or wand along the metal railing. I really like the resort, just not for sleeping.

Then we switched to AKL and hear nothing except the occasional bird call.:cloud9: The beds were way more comfortable too.

I would suggest ear plugs for POP if you are a light sleeper or have a hard time falling asleep.

I still really love the resort though.

I stay at the values quite often and have never had an issue with noise.

The noise issues come with :

1. The main pool is located very close to some of the value rooms.

The themed pools at the mods and deluxes are set away from the rooms.

Tip: Ask for a room facing away or located a ways from the main pool.

2. Turbo toilets

The Values are newer and have the turbo toilets.

Tip: Close your bathroom door at night because noise travels through the plumbing.

3. Connecting rooms

About 50% of the value rooms have connecting doors.

Noise will travel under the connecting doors in a room.

Tip: If you have noisy neighbors open your connecting door and place a rolled up bath towel on the floor between then close and lock your connecting door.

Some guests find that using a fan or white noise machine helps them sleep better.

These tips should help you get a restful sleep wherever you choose to stay.

We heard toliets at PORQ as well. Most other hotels we have stayed in off site all across the country we usually heard toliets in other rooms flush as well. It doesn't bother us much tho.

At least I've never heard that rush of water like I do at home an I'm in basement an the toliets upstairs gets flushed that freaked me out when I 1st moved here.

This is why were not doing POP again this upcomming trip. We really like the POP but upgraded to CSR. We could hear the same person urinating at the time every morning. My DD and I were just laughing about it by the third day. I'm not going through that again with my best friend coming for this trip.

I could hear people in the next room moving around in the bathroom, flushing the toilet, starting and stopping the faucet, etc. This was when I was in our bathroom. I could faintly hear the hairdryer.

One odd thing was late at night, I could hear someone in the room above us dropping something on the bathroom floor or the tub- you know that distinctive sounds when something small drops on tile or porcelin? It happened several times over several minutes. I think it was a child playing in the bathtub, or dropping something.

I hear the bathrooms at POR, POP, CBR and ASMu.....other peoples turbo flush toilets.

At the Swan, Dolphin and WL we did not hear anything but maybe there wasnt anyone in the rooms next to us

Maybe it depends on the room or the person, but I've never noticed any sounds from other rooms other than the occasional sound of water in plumbing (which I've also heard at $300/night 3- and 4 star hotels).

Seriously folks - I don't think this question had anything to do with turbo toilets!

Aimros - I wonder what you are planning :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That's Mighty Interesting :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We stayed at Pop to ride out a hurricane and it was noisy. we came from 9 nights at the Poly to 3 nights at Pop due to Wilma shutting down Amtrak and decided to ride out the unknown at a cheaper resort. Late at night when all is susposed to be quiet, we could hear guests talking as they walked past our room, people taking a pee during the night, just little annoying noises. We decided to just leave our TV on low to drown out the annoyances but we never had those issues at Poly or WL, glad that stay was over/.

I've been know to play the bagpipes when the internal pipes need a good cleaning so I hope they are somewhat sound proof come Sept. :rotfl2:

When I stayed at Pop, I kept my ear pressed to the bathroom wall to listen in on what the guests in the next room were doing, and much to my dismay, I couldn't hear anything.:confused3

Just kidding.;)

We've stayed at Pop twice, and heard a toilet flushing a couple times, but we had the same thing at CBR.
