We have been to Disney World and Land several times. My question is how far out do I need to start making reservations? We plan on going in August 2013.

I would book your vacay before 180 days, start making a list of the restaurants you want to go to ( if you are going to do any table services) and make the reservations for those 180 days out. That way you get what you want. You can always change your reservations hundreds of times before the total amount is due ( I think around 45 days before you check in?). Have fun with the planning.

I know it sounds silly but one of my favorite parts of vacationing is the actual planning! Especially with Disney the week leading up to ADR's.

Have fun

Thanks for the advice. I love the planning too. Now I just have to decide on which resort, where to eat...let the fun begin!!!:goodvibes

Our experience has been to book 9 to 12 months in advance from our arrival date. Just to ensure we get the resort we would like to stay at. And it gives us longer time to pay our balance out. Maybe someone else will come along and have a better answer!! Lol Happy planning!

Planning is really a lot of fun, especially if you can get everyone involved and excited. At the 180 day out mark you need to be able to know when and where to make your ADR's. (If your going to make them). Other than that, some people starts planning a year in advance or some even sooner than that.
