Is there a general rule as far as a good time to book your hotel stay? How far in advance to find the best rates? Thanks!

The rates aren't any better the earlier you book. But but book early (to secure your room) and keep an eye out for the specials that will pop up. When you see one that applies to your dates, call Disney and they will apply it to your reservation.

Agree with the PP. As long as there is no cancelation penalty go ahead and book now but keep watching for a better price.

Exactly. Unless you are booking on priceline or something where you have to pay up front, there is no worry in making a reservation. Make one so you have one, and then you can always cancel if you change your mind and switch hotels, or find a better deal.

We book early, as I usually find for offsite hotels, the prices can be considerably lower earlier on. I usually book in March for December atthe Residence inn, and I booked a month ago for our upcoming DECEMBER trip, and already the room is $20 a night more. (Over 12 nights, that adds up.)

I made the reservations for our May trip in October, and that was still late (didn't get the best rates). I made reservations for September in January...I'm not positive that we are going then (our APs run out in May), but they are cancellable, just in case... :)

Oh, I always stay off-site.

I made the reservations for our December trip in January. The rates have already gone up.
