How should I go about....

asking a girl to my Formal?? I don't have a particular girl and I might not even ask one, but I just wanted to get some of your opinions. Like any tips??

Walk up to the girl, ask if she is going to formal and if she says yes ask if she has a date, if she says no ask if she would like to go with you...if she says yes, then say well I will see you there.
