How satisfied are you with DVC NOW?

How satisfied are you with DVC NOW versus years ago?

  • My satisfaction level is the same as it was during the ealry years of ownership.

  • More satisfied now, DVC is constantly improving.

  • Less satisfied, things are not quite as good now.

  • Much less satisfied, some of the recent things make me question the future of DVC.

I even called at 11 months out to make the reservation, and said my dates were flexible, if they could reserve us a room...

Nope, can't do anything, even with 11 months to work with.

How disorganized really!

Trip coming in May, so we'll see... THey finally said to call a few days out and demand to speak to the room assigner at OKW. But why do I as the customer have to hunt and seek to meet a handicap request. Taking all the magic out of it by stressing me out, and I'm worried that I'll be embarrassed in front of my family. THey said if it happens again, their just going to give up and leave. Too tired to argue with checkin.

Okay, I love Disney, but it isn't working as well for my family because:

1. Colder pool temps in Winter (seeing how this plays out, but already not going in Feb / March this year because of last years issues).

2. Need 1st floor access at OKW for medical reasons. They will not guarantee unless you reserve a HA room, but that doesn't work because FIL is 6'5" and with wheelchair height is too uncomfortable with him.

Before you flame me on this, last year I did request 1st Floor, checked in aroun 2 p.m., and they put FIL with diabetes and quadruple by-pass (only 4 months after) not on second, but third floor of OKW. And this was at primetime Easter for 10 days (Big time points!!).

So for this year tried to be pro-active, but OKW management wouldn't help, Disabilities refused to help unless HA room, so basically I take my chances and Oh well.... So if it doesn't work out, I may be selling, as I won't be able to take my extended family anymore.

Basicallly, Disney is refusing to accomodate our specific handicapped needs - even offered to bring medical letter. Either you take their solution to your handicap, or you get nothing. Writting this is still making me upset!!!

Still frustrated, and disappointed, Goldi

I am surprised you had trouble getting a first floor room, as most don't want them due to the noise. Did you request anything other than first floor?

sorry, double post. I guess I really am still upset.

Sorry, Goldi

We requested smoking too, and didn't get that.... But we stressed that the most important was the first floor.

So Mother was stuck out on the balcony to smoke, which I didn't like for other's enjoyment (as well as mine - I don't smoke, hate it, so try to minimize impact on others but again Disney not willing to help me do that).

I mean really, I do try... so I thought I would try at 11 months this year so we could work this out, but no, OKW and HA both refuse to make any prior arrangements.

We've only been members for a little over two years, so I didn't vote in your poll, but in the short time that I've owned DVC, I have seen quite a few improvements. I've been very happy with the changes to Member Services and the additional options available on the website, and I'm also thrilled with the announcement of the new Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas. Perhaps we'd feel differently if we had been members from the start, but for now I can honestly say DVC is the best purchase I've ever made. :teeth:

I put more satisfied. I have been a member since 2003 and it seem to be getting better. When I joined, I had no idea about the perks like APs, pool hopping, discounts, the publications and surpises in the mail. Now, with new resort(s) on the horizon, I am really thrilled. I also am suprised at how spoiled I am when I have to go back to vacationing like I used to...... What? no jaccuzzi tub, no second bathroom, Where is the kitchen???? :cloud9:

Sorry you had trouble getting the type of room you need. Have yo considered trying one of the other DVC resorts? All of them have elevators so maybe the floor won't matter so much. BWV, BCV & VWL all have valet service if you need frequent access to your car.

Hope you don't end up selling over this.

I am still very satisfied as I have gotten so much more than I ever bargained for since OKW was it when we first purchased! I don't take any of the cruise issues into account as there wasn't even a DCL when we purchased, never mind BWV, BCV, VWL, Hilton Head, Vero, SSV and the soon to be Animal Kingdom Villas. The only reason I didn't put more satisfied now is that I do miss some of the personal touches from those early days when there were so few members. I think that they are constantly re-evaluating and adding benefits which I definitely utilize and appreciate. All in all, purchasing DVC was probably the best thing we ever did for our family and I am still thrilled to be a proud member :Pinkbounc

Now come on Bill, you got to put that "Day One" on the bottom of your card, didn't you? :teeth:

We're a "Day One" couple and boy, did I get mad when our friends signed up and got $25 -$50 gift cards! Well, we also got a pin. Then the new special came and I was able to get a $75 dues credit, so I'm a happy camper again.

We've only owned DVC for 3 years, but I like it just as much as I did when we bought. We bought it as a destination to go to with family and friends. Since our DS's family is on the very young side, and we're planning our second 4 generation trip :goodvibes , we expect to be happy with DVC for years to come! I didn't vote because I haven't owned it long enough to satisfy the OP's criteria.

Bobbi :)

Waiting for more winter pool temps to vote, other than that its as good as ever for us. :thumbsup2

I picked "more satisfied" because you can now use points at FW. I have been asking about that for the past two years and when it was announced I was :cloud9: !!! We are big RVers and we originally bought enough points so we could stay at BWV in a one bedroom for a month. Now we have enough points to stay at FW for THREE months. :yay:
