How probable is this?

We are going to be making reservations to stay at our home resort the Beachclub in June to go next May 2006
We are taking our Mil and FIL for their 50th anniversary on our points
We are going to get a studio for them and would like a 1 bedroom for us
We really did not want to do a 2 bedroom together
We want them to have their own fridge and microwave.
What is the probability that if requested they put us next to each other.

Only 31 days til our 3rd disney cruise :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

You could always book a 2bdrm villa and request a "lock-off" -- a lock-off 2bdrm is a 1bdrm attatched to a studio and then you could just keep the door in between locked if you wish. This would guarantee you to be right next to them...though not sure you could "definetly" get the lock off ....but you'd probably have a pretty good shot at it since many will request the oppossite and request a "dedicated" 2bdrm in hopes of getting the 2 queen bed set-up in the 2nd bedroom.:scratchin

You should be able to specifically request a lockoff 2B, which would give you a 1B + Studio with kitchenette. It will also be less points than reserving the two rooms separately.

If you still want to book separately, I'm sure they will try to get you near each other, but there is no guarantee. It would be tough lay odds on the chance of success. Obviously the resorts will strive to make everyone happy...but one never really knows. :confused3

Do you use less points with a 2 bedroom lockout?
Will they let you know when you make reservations?
or is it just a request?
like smoking?

Are dedicated vs. lockoff considered "types" of rooms at reservations at BCV? I know they usually are at OKW, unless some unforeseen circumstance takes a room out of service. If they are considered reservable categories at BCV, a lock-off 2 bedroom would be the way to go.

No, points are the same whether you book a lock-off or a dedicated (there's only 1 catagory for booking a 2bdrm at BCV's as far as I know..it's a request .:scratchin. But my guess is that you'd probably have a better chance at getting a request for a lock-off granted vs. a dedicated since so many people request dedicated for either the 2 queen bed set up or to not have that 2nd enterance if they have small children. Just guessing though.

I've always heard that aside from some confusion during check-in, the lockoff/dedicated status is guaranteed. As Scoootch indicated, many people report specifically reserving the "Dedicated" rooms at BCV since they have the two queen beds.

For inventory purposes, the resorts have to track the status of each reservation. If a resort has 45 lockoffs, they can't rent out more than 45 1Bs or Studios.

It wouldn't hurt to ask Member Services. We booked a Dedicated 2B during our last stay at SSR. It wasn't noted on my confirmation, but MS confirmed that I had been booked into a dedicated room. Sure enough, that's what we got.

But a lockoff 2 BR is cheaper than a 1 BR plus a separate studio. For BCV and the like, it's about 45-61 points different for a week, quite a big difference IMO.

Yes..Dean is right...I was speaking of -- No difference in points between a lock-off 2bdrm vs. a dedicated ;)

Go for the points saving and request the 2 bedroom lock-off. You can keep the door in between closed all the time or open them up sometimes. However, I believe the keys for the doors will work on both set of doors.

I am glad I asked
this will definitely save me some points and if I can lock the door that will be good.
It is nice to travel with others but it is also nice to have your own space.

I like to be sure I have more than a T-shirt on when the inlaws come trapsing in for their coffee :rotfl2:

We got a 2 bed lock off when we took friends to SSR last September. It worked very well. When we were up and dressed and happy to have company, we opened our side of the adjoining door. If theirs was shut they weren't ready yet and our door still separated us. When they wanted to they opened their door and could come into our room.

We rarely went into their room. I guess it seemed more of an invasion as it was right into their bedroom area or directly by the bathroom. If they came into our room they were in our living room which was fine.

Our friends were happy with this. As we have a toddler and they are childless and into late night clubbing etc we did a fair amount of stuff separately anyway. IMHO this is the only way to have a successful holiday with others. If you spend every waking moment with each other it gets tough. We did this with my parents in an off site villa last year, it was just too much and we get on really well at home.

The lock off is great, you get both privacy and to be near each other.

Just my opinion...

We've done the 2 bed lockoff with my parents twice now, once at VWL and once at SSR. Both times lockoff was on my confirmation and I was told by MS that it was guaranteed. It worked out great both times. My parents had their own space and so did we. They made their own coffee in the mornings and had their breakfast in the studio, plus they could come and go as they pleased without disturbing my girls sleeping in the living room. The only thing you need to be aware of is that both keys will work for both rooms, and they cannot get seperate charging privelges for the studio. My Dad just usually uses his own credit card instead. If they do want to use their key for charging priveleges, you can sit down and calculate what everybody owes using the individual numbers on the Key Cards. But only one credit card can be on file with the front desk. Hope this makes sense.

Even though only one credit card can be on file at the front desk, they can seperate and individually charge each key if you go to the desk and request it. They just cannot do it automatically for easy check out. We went to the front desk late at night before check-out and took care of the bill...this way we weren't waiting on line with people checking in/out in the morning when it is always busy.

I didn't realize that dedicated 2 bedrooms at BCV had two queen beds. Are any of the other resorts like this? I assumed that was true at OKW, and now SSR, but what about BWV and VWL? And are there any studios except OKW that have two beds?

At BC Villas only 52 of the 2 bedroom dedicateds have 2 queen beds. Some dedicated 2 bedroom villas at BC do not have the 2 queens, they have one queen and a sofa bed.

At WL dedicated 2 bedrooms have 2 queen beds. At BW all have the sofa and bed combo. At SSR all dedicated 2 bedroom villas have 2 queens.

OKW is the only studio available with 2 beds.

It is very confusing and even then there will be one odd room that will throw the formula off.

Unless you count VB ...studios at VB do not have 2 queen beds either BUT Inn rooms at VB do...they are very similar to a studio;)

About 2/3 of the dedicated 2 BR units at BCV have a queen and pull out queen, I didn't think it was as high as 52 though, I think that's more in the line of the dedicated with the pull out feature.
