How popular is the DDP when it is NOT free?

It's hard to understand where the anger stems from in regards to free dining. Nonetheless, it exists. We congratulate those who find cheap airfares. We high-five those who get pin codes in the mail and are able to book rooms for 50% off. We thumbs-up those who are able to get rental cars for $100 a week. Why are people so angry about people getting incredible value for their food dollars? It wasn't their idea, it was Disney's. And, frankly, the number of rooms per resort offering free dining was limited. I don't whine about my resort being crowded if I feel people are taking advantage of AAA rates :rotfl:

Last year we stayed deluxe and got free dining AFTER I had booked a package that included dining. Total bargain! In May, we stayed value and paid for the dining plan. Still, a bargain! Next month, we're staying value with a free dining discount. MAJOR bargain.

The fact is, we can afford to pay to eat in restaurants that cost a bit more. But why would we if Disney is offering to comp our meals there?
