how packed is it on martin luther king jr day?

My boyfriend's birthday is on January 19th so we wanted to go that day to celebrate his and our son's 2nd birthday (the 27th) but Im not sure how packed it is going to be that week? We would be going sunday the 18th through the 20th. Thanks

Any Sunday will be crowded but the early weekdays will be better but the hours might be limited.

I work for a bank so I'm lucky enough to get the day off each year. I usually end up at DL on that day and the crowd levels tend to be pretty low. However, the crowds at DLR may be a bit larger than usual since Disney is now offering the financing for the AP's. But I wouldn't imagine it will be too crazy since people are still recovering from spending during the holidays, and rides are down for refurb.

Not that this is anything shocking to you DL pros out there, but anytime there is a 3 day weekend for a holiday (like MLK Jr), there will tend to be larger than average crowds. We live in Phoenix area, and I know tons of families who make the trip to DL on 3 day weekends.

That being said, as someone else already posted, since MLK Jr day falls so close to Christmas and the other holidays, many of us are poor...I know I am ... so MLK Jr day may be an exception to the "traditional" DL holiday rule that the park will be busy.

I was there last year for MLK weekend and it was packed. Besides the three day weekend, if the weather is warm the locals arrive in droves! We still had a wonderful time, but it was more crowded than we had experienced the previous June. But I wish I was going again this year. Get there early, before opening and go over to DCA when it gets packed. I'm jealous!
