Someone on the "how old are you?" poll suggested that there are many more DVCers in their 30's now because that age group is having kids, settling into a career etc., so I figured I'd do a poll on how old people were when they joined DVC. Of course the poll is somewhat limited by the fact that DVC is only 11 years old but still it will be interesting to see if a majority joins at the same point in their lives.

I hope Nette doesn't mind if I steal her poll categories!

Cool! you read my mind! I was just thinking that perhaps *THIS* was really the question I wanted to ask...

Hmmm My post seems to have gotten lost?

Well, hope this isnt' a repeat.

I think that in the beginning DVC was purchased by more grandparents than parents. It was more expensive (relatively) and it was unknown. Once BWV opened, DVC had a reputation and was more visible. I'm guessing that the majority of folks are in their 30's when they purchase. They are starting families and probably already own their house.

It'll be interesting to see how this poll turns out.

I was 54 before I saw the light and signed on with the DVC. We've been going to WDW two or three times a year for the last eight or nine years. When the BCV was announced I started working on DW to take the plunge. I can't believe how much money we spent at the GF when it could have been spent on the DVC. DW wants do do even more add-ons now that we've been to the BCV a few times. It's been a great investment for us.

Although I was old enough to know better when we joined, I am still young at heart :) My wife was still in the young at heart group when we joined.

What we were not, was smart enough to figure how to afford to join eleven years ago when we first toured. Nor were we smart enough to revisit that decision when we could afford it later, until last year. Better late than never!

My DW and I were both 29 back in '94 (Oh the days of free passes!) when we purchased and have never had any regrets:D

We were 32 and parents.
We only lived 3 hours away at the time and found it be an incredible deal. We had just stayed at Westgate and were trying to decide which timeshare,
I know we made the right choice.
PS we joined in 94

I bought in as a 34th birthday present to myself.

That's funny! We bought on my 34th birthday too. That was 6 years ago. Oh no, did you just figure out that I just turned 40? As they say, just like fine wine! :D

Keep in mind, this pole is going to depict the age profile of DVC members who frequent this board, ie. internet savvy, disboard member, etc.

I think we did a "How old are you?" a while ago. Maybe'll dig it out to compare.

I play with polls and surveys at work. It's always fun to figure out exactly what the results mean. :D

Keep the polls coming!

My husband and I are a young couple (23 yrs. old). We just bought and I am wondering if we could possibly be among the youngest DVC members!??? We are just wondering what to do when we are 61 yrs. old and our membership is over!!!

I was 32 my DW was 30 and DS was 3. Now with a DD of 7 months and another on the way the trip to WDW is getting more expensive.

But with lodging being taken care of I am sure we will be able to find a way to keep going back. ;)

I was 36 and DW was 32 and we were parents of two when we purchased in late 01 early 02. We knew these trips were going to become annual so it made sense for us to sign under the palm trees.

:jester:
My wife (33) and I (31) purchased into DVC last year. We made our first trip home this past May. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa at BCV. No regrets!!!

:smooth: I was 29 and single when I purchase BWV, but fell in love with Disney. Since then I have taken almost every member of my immediate family. Also, I thought for my future when I will have a family of my own where I can appreciate it even more. I have no regrets.:bounce:
