when you started shaving your legs or wearing makeup?

OMG! How could you figure out my post from that headline? (I fixed it)

I was about 12 when my mother let me shave my legs and about 14 for wearing make-up. Trust me, I wore it before that, but would wash it off before I got home from school, except for the one day I forgot to wipe off the eyeshadow. My mother grounded me for 2 weeks (LOL). DD is 11 and she shaves her legs. She wears lip gloss, unless her and her friends are going to a dance and then they wear lip gloss and blush, with some glitter).

Shaving started when I was 8. I had hair everywhere...same with my dd.

As far as makeup I guess I was 12/13 before I started wearing it. But that was back in the 70s and believe you me we spent major time on our hair and makeup EVERYDAY. I mean our hair could last thru a tornado and not even move.

I started leg shaving when I was 13. I wore makeup to school when I was 14 (High School).

13 (the summer after I graduated from 8th grade.)

Started shaving when I was 11, and started wearing make up when I was 13 (I should NOT have been allowed to wear make up, since I had no idea how to apply it correctly lol)

11 for shaving and 13 for makeup

I think I was 12 or 13 when I started shaving, even though there was no drastic need. I'm fair skinned and had very fair hair on my legs back then.

My friends and I started experimenting with makeup in 7th grade, but I didn't wear it regularly until college age. In high school, we made it a point to not dress up, not fix our hair (tucked up in a bandana was the "in" thing for us) and not wear makeup. We didn't look like total slobs, but we came close! ;)

I developed very early and had to start shaving in 4th grade. I used to sneak to shave because my mother was terrible about talking to me about these types of things:rolleyes:

I must be soooooo old
I really can't remember???
I'm sure I shaved before make up wearing
I think make up came about 13 or 14
so probably 11 or 12 for leg shaving
Why can't I remember this??
Old age setting in early in my 30's

I don't really remember either. somewhere around 7th grade.

I was in 5th grade the first time I shaved my legs. I was 10 or 11 yo. I still have a nice scar from the experience (straight razor+doing it without asking=PAIN). The first time I wore make up, was, I think the 6th grade-about 12 yo. I think I really got into wearing it around the 8th grade though.

Me - Legs at about 12, Makeup at 13

DD - Legs at about 11, Makeup at 13

Legs about 12(I think) and makeup was about then too. I promised DD she could start shaving her legs this summer (she'll be 11 in August). She only wears lip gloss now. We haven't talked about when she can start wearing real makeup.

I was in the 7th grade when I began shaving so I guess I was 12. My mom did not want me to shave my legs but I pestered her so much she finally gave in. I had been getting teased by some girls at school.

I wore lip gloss on and off in Jr./Sr. High but really didn't become interested in make-up until I was a Senior.

My daughter, who just turned 12, is not interested in shaving her legs yet.

I've been letting her wear light colored lip gloss for a couple of years now whenever she has wanted to. She also wears glitter powder occasionally. She hasn't expressed a desire to wear anything else yet.

DD#1 started shaving at 10, against my wishes.

DD#2 is 9yo and she needs to shave but isn't ready. I can not believe how much hair (both dark and light) she has.

No make - up for either, lipgloss is okay.

I do not remember how old I was, guessing about 11 for shaving. Make-up I think 14.

I was probably 13 or 14 for shaving. The first time I wore make up was for my 8th grade graduation picture.

a long time ago... ;)

I was 13 when I started to shave my legs... 14 when I started wearing makeup... and then it was just mascara and lip gloss. I've always looked younger than I am, and still today if I put on much makeup I still look like I was playing in my Mother's make up drawer.

My oldest daughter is 11 and has very light hair.. I'm discouraging her from shaving for as long as she can get away with it. As for the make up, she is very fair skinned so I allow her a tiny bit of pinkish beige eyeshadow, and light blush gloss for special occasions, but for the most part I think she's beautiful the way she is and want her to think so too. I'm not crazy about all the glitter and other junk the girls are putting on their skin these days. The little girl up the street is in 7th grade, she has colored contacts, wears blue eyeliner and glitter on her cheeks - and that's on a daily basis for school!

I don't think my daughter is quite ready for that...I know I sure am not!
