How old is old enough?

My boys were 12 & 9 the first time we let them use the buses on their own. And that was our first trip to WDW.

We allowed DS to take the buses to Disney Quest when he was 15-16. He also took the bus from MGM to POR when he got cranky and wanted to go to the pool.
