How old do you have to be to go to the spa? And how much are the pedicures and manicures?

The spa is considered an adult area on both ships so 18 and over to make a reservation online. Some have reported that on their cruise they had offers for teens but this is not common and seems to be offered just when they have lots of openings to fill up.

The reviews for the manicures and pedicures have been awful for years. The standard advice is to get one done before the cruise at less than half the price on the ship and it will last more than one day. ;)

How about the age for the salon? And where is the salon? I'm thinking of getting an updo done for formal night and my oldest DD(15) would probably like one too.

The salon is in the Spa and it is only for 18 years and older. Sometimes they will open up for younger, but that is more the exception than the rule.

Having had manicures and pedicures both on the ship and while in Cape Canaveral, I would agree that if you have the time while you're in Cape Canaveral (or Cocoa Beach, etc) do it then. It was less than half the price. I can't remember the name of the nail salon I went to but I know it was right down the road from the Radisson. It was in a strip mall with a market. Nothing fancy but the pedicure lasted long after the cruise.

The manicure I had on the ship didn't last two days and I didn't go swimming or doing anything that would have been especially hard on my nails.

Had our vow renewal on the Magic, and they wouldn't make the exception for our two young flower girls....we ended up doing their hair.

I wish they had a way to do "My first...." like the spa at the GF does. Don't get me wrong, I can TOTALLY see not wanting kids running around in a spa. UGH! I'd hate that myself and I have 2. :) But ushered into a small room would be fun for them. I have no idea why, but my DS (9) has been talking about wanting a massage for years now. I don't like them, hubby doesn't either. I DO like facials and pedicures though. Where he came up w/ this idea is beyond me, but how can I NOT try and get him one in a place that knows how to treat kids.:lovestruc So since the ship spa doesn't offer them, I'll be taking him to the GF the day before we sail for a little mother/son time. ;)

Maybe they will have a "kid" spa on the new ships.

They do occasionally have teen specials in the spa, usually on port days...I suspect it is a way to fill appointments if the adults haven't been booking up the spa. They also do occasional mother/daughter specials for teens. However, these are not offered on all cruises, and when offered are only during very limited hours. There are a couple of teen times in the fitness center after it closes to adults.

Otherwise, the spa area (including fitness center) is an adult area strictly.

When you say "teen", is that including 13 years old? My dd13 wants to go into the stack for teens but, it is only for 14 years and up.

The teen time in the fitness center is a Stack activity under the supervision of those counselors, so I'd imagine it is 14 and up.

The teen time in the spa and teen with mom specials have always been 13 and up. However, as above, they are not offered on every cruise.

Just got off of our 18th Magic cruise! The do have a "Princess Package" in the Spa/Salon. It is for younger girls...kinda like a BibbidibobbityBoutique. Little bit of nail buffing and smidgeon of make up. The teen package is a Mani/Pedicure plus a mini-facial. These are offered, if you ask. If you do, ask for the manager.
While I was getting my Frangipani Scalp Massage, wash, blow dry there was about a 12 year old that was getting a wash and blow dry.

Just got back from the March 28th cruise on the Magic and they allowed my 10yo daughter and I to do a "mother/daughter" thing. I purchased the "teen package" for her and I can't remember what mine was called...some kind of special for the day. We did it on the morning we were at port in St. Croix, so maybe that's why they let us do it. My daughter got a facial, manicure and pedicure and head massage...I think it was $69. I got a back massage, leg and foot massage, and facial....I think mine was $99. We got to be in the same room the whole time...each with our own person....it was pretty neat...my daughter's first spa visit and we really had a great time. Mine also included a whole day pass to the rainforest (daughter wouldn't be allowed though), but we wanted to get off the ship and by the time we got back later, I totally forgot about it. I could have gone there up until 10pm! Oh well....next time!

Do you know how much the teen package and princess package were?:scratchin

It really depends on your sailing and availability what you can get. We never go by what the Navigator or brochure say, just head on up to the spa and talk to someone in person about what is available if anything.

We have always been able to get facials, hair, and mani pedis (the mani/pedis really in my opinion are awful as others stated) for our girls on port days or earlier morning times. Occasionally even on a sea day though policy says no.

My oldest girls each got their first real facial on cruises and they liked it even though cost way more than one at home :)

Never did the mommy daughter thing but sounds fun!

Before we lived in FL, when we flew in precruise, we would go to one of the walk in nail salons near port and got wonderful mani/pedis together for great prices and way better than those on the ship!

The teen package is what my daughter got for $69. I didn't ask about the princess package.

I agree that you have to go in and ask about getting young girls in.....they don't advertise it anywhere.

Was the 12 year old getting just a style?
I have two DDs, one age 11 and one age 14. They were hoping to get their hair done for formal night.
