How often should you weigh yourself?

I am so afraid of gaining weight back that I have started weighing myself each night before going to bed and then again in the morning.
I know that this is probably a bit obsessive especially since I have been good about my exercise and what I eat, but I just can not seem to stay away from the scale.
Any suggestions, I suppose that once a week is probably more in line but I wanted to know what you all do.

According to what I remember reading in Atkins, you are ok to weigh in as much as you want in order to gain control of yourself. Just do yourself a favor and make one day a week your "official" weigh day as you will see that weight does fluctuate during the day and week.

Personally, I weigh in almost daily, but use the one day as my official day.
Perhaps eventually we will slow down with weighing all the time, but we always need to be in control of ourselves now. If weighing in gives you that control, then you go.
There have been many posts about this "condition" and responses as varied as you can imagine. As long as you remain healthy and not totally obsessive/compulsive and keep going in the good direction, do whatever it is that works for you.

I weigh myself everyday (sometimes at night too) although I use Monday as my weigh in day for WISH:sunny:
I agree with Tiger Lily 03 you should do what ever works for you.

I weigh myself once a week, same day, same time. I am even thinking of just weighing myself once a month. I don't weigh myself more often because I can really do without seeing my weight :yo-yo: throughout the week. My feeling is if I know that I am doing the things that I need to be doing to lose the weight then using the scale is no big deal. I know that this would not work for everyone, so as Tiger Lily says everyone has to do what works for them.

I weigh myself everyday in the am. It's so funny how it fluctuates by the day...bizarre. I stopped weighing myself about a year ago and this is how I ended up gaining 20+pounds from the last time I weighed myself.

For me, it helps me be accountable and gives me motivation.

Okay
I feel better, I thought maybe I was being strange. Monday is my offical weigh in day and I go by my morning weight.
I guess you guys are right though it is a tool to keep control. I am sure that once I lose some more weight I won't feel the need to check twice a day.
Thanks

Due to the nature of the body, folks shouldn't read anything (good or bad) into weight changes over anything less than a few weeks -- a full month for women (for obvious reasons).

I weigh myself weekly (same time of day, some type of clothing, same level of hydration), and then average each reading with the readings from last three or four weeks. Using that approach, any significant (more than one pound) change you see actually means something significant has occurred (good or bad).

Hi Helen k,

I also weigh myself daily(once a day).

I just want to know if what I did the previous day helped or hurt me for the day.

If I think I had a good day and the scale does not reflect it I might be disappointed, however, it makes me more aware of what I do throughout the day.

I have tried to weigh weekly, didn't work,I have to see that number on the scale everyday.

I also normally weigh each morning about 30 min after waking up wearing just my bra and panties. However this week I had a very stressful week and I just didn't get on the scale from Sunday until Friday morning(even though stressed I did not eat anything I wasn't supposed to) When I got on the scale I had lost 5# since3 Sunday!! Now I KNOW that isn't because I didn't weigh all those days but it does let me know that as long as I am eating like I am supposed to that it is not necessary to get on those scales everyday!!! BUT.....I know I will still get on there everyday because I feel more in control.

I agree also with Tiger Lily 03...Do what is best for you!!!!

Because I am still trying to lose weight, I weigh daily. It helps to keep me centered and motivated!

I use Mondays as my "official weigh in" for wish, and I also measure then, too.

Once I hit goal weight, I will probably weigh once a week, to keep myself in check!

Hope this helps!!

I am on WW and weigh in on Thurs. However, I weigh myself everyday...sometimes twice. The crazy thing really is the fluctuation though. Thurs. at WW I got my 10 lb. ribbon. Tonight I weighed myself and was 3.5 lbs. more that what I was that day. I wonder if it is just beacause it's the weekend. I wish someone out there could expalin the fluctuations on the scale.
