How often does your family go to WDW?

How often do you go to Disney? We go every 2-4 years, but not planning on making it any more then a 2.5-3 year gap between our trips for now on. We are a large family(2 adults 5 kids) so it gets pricy.....that is why we are looking into buying DVC with enough points to go every other year.

Well, right now it is just me and before that just myself and my mom. We went about every 3 years. We were supposed to go this last October, but mom passed in May so I postponed to this upcoming October to go with my aunt. So that would be 4 years between. Then I am going next year with my cousin, her husband, and their 2 kids.

So, after I type all of that out, I guess my real answer is when we have the money.

I usually go 2-3 times per year but which family members go with me varies. I rotate out kids and hubby on the various trips.

We used to go to WDW once a year. Now that our family is growing and DH is in graduate school, we just don't have the time or resources. We have tried to do every three years now. We can squeeze in a Disneyland trip every year because its close but out to WDW is hard due to cost of flights. It is hard to wait that long, but it is better than not getting to go at all :thumbsup2

We have DVC and go to Disney about every 2 years. Sometimes it has been as long as 3 years and sometimes as short as 18 months. We do go to another DVC resort--HHI more often--usually 2 summers out of 3.

Between our first trip and this one coming up, which is our second, it's been 5 years. But between our second and third trip we're looking at 5-10 years in between.

I wish we could do more. The first trip lasted 36 hours and was paid very easily because we had 3 incomes. This coming trip is a week long. We were given some money a few months ago and took a small portion that money to pay for this trip. Otherwise, now that we are a one income family, this trip would not be happening. In 2 weeks time, we went from not even considering Disney for many years to making our reservation!

August 2012: Wife, 3-yr old daughter, 6-yr old son, and mother-in-law
April 2013: Wife, daughter, and son
January 2014: Wife, daughter and son

We live in Pittsburgh, PA and make the drive in 2 days.

We've pretty much agreed that we'll make the Disney trip on annual basis because for $2500, nothing really beats it. Last year, we did go to Outer Banks for a few days over the summer, visited Lake Erie for a weekend, Kennywood (local amusement park, which we got season pass for 2014), and some other local parks like the Laurel Caverns to walk through a cave and some historical sites like Bushy Run Battlefield and Fort Necessity.

The great thing is hopefully being able to mix in other short trips around it to not make Disney the only thing they experience with the family.

This year, we're planning to do Disney in January, Gettysburg in the summer after school is out, Kennywood, Lake Erie, and depending on family commitment, going to a wedding in Boynton Beach (which I probably will surprise everyone with a day stop in Orlando to go to Disney - lol).

I hope everyone can afford to go as often as they would like, be it a few times a year, annual or every few years.

You can see from my signature that we have taken the kids twice. Once in Oct/Nov 2011 and once in Oct/Nov 2012. DH and I have gone in between those. I have been 6 times total in the last 3 years. But we aren't planning on going back until November 2015. DH has 2 Daytona Bike week vacations in 2014 so we are going to skip Disney in 2014.

After the 2015 trip I am not sure how often we will go back because the kids will be in high school and almost out of high school and we will have been 7 times.

DH and I may take a short 4 or 5 day trip every year or two after that.

But now that we are Wyndham timeshare owners there are a lot of other places I want to go where they have Wyndham resorts.

We started going as a family in 87 and went every couple of years. When our youngest turned 4 we started going every year. We went every year until she started high school and then it was every other year. She is a senior in HS now and I think it will be awhile before we go again.

I used to go at least once every year with my family (2 adults, 4 kids). When I moved out 4 years ago my family moved to California so I visited them and we did DL twice while they were there for 3 years. DH and I got married in WDW in July and are heading back on Tueday :dance3: DH and I plan to go at least once a year as long as we can afford it.

My family hasn't ever been. My husband and I each went a few times with our families of origin when we were kids but this fall will be our family's first trip.

I like that my daughter will be four and at a great age for the magic, and my son will be free. Assuming we have a good time and want to go back, I'm thinking a trip every few years.

We've been going yearly since 2010. We never intended for that to happen it just has. Our first 3 visits we only did 1 day at WDW and went lots of other places in FL. We love Busch Gardens so we go there every time. Last year we did 5 days at Disney for the first time and loved it. That was suppose to be our last trip there for a while especially since I was diagnosed with cancer 7 days after we got back from our trip last summer. Then this year DS 15 is going to WDW with his marching band so we decided to follow. And I convinced DH to stay on site which is a first for us. I'm so excited, well really we all are. We will only have DD7 with us since it doesn't coincide with DD19 spring break.

I've gone just about every single year with my family of origin since I was 3 yrs old. (I'm 32 now) I'm planning to continue that tradition with my husband and 2 yr old daughter. So far so good!

We plan on going every 2 years. That's what we've done since our first trip with our oldest. It's enough time for it to be special and give us time to save up but not too long. We went a year apart prior to kids. Although we had fun both trips, I think we should have either split the trip or gone somewhere else for the second trip.

We started going to just the MK (early 70's) every few years, then the last 15 or so years have gone mostly yearly or every other year. The 3 or 4 times we've decided to purchase AP's have gone 3 times in a year.

We're skipping this year though, decided to go to Maine instead.

We went every year for the last 7 years but we just had a baby so we are hoping that we will still be able to do that but paying more than $1300 Every month for daycare is going to make a yearly trip harder.

We went in August of 2012 and May of 2013. We wanted to go again this May but are leaning more towards May of 2014. From here on out we plan on going at least every other year but if we can swing it every year we would do that. We do like to travel other places but have so much fun when we go to disney.

Disney World is pretty much an annual trip for us (but we have squeezed in a quick winter trip twice). We are a family of 5 - 2 adults and 3 kids ages 8,6, and 4. A typical trip for us is about 10 days.

One of the big reasons we can do this is DVC. Rooms for 5 or more can be crazy expensive and for us DVC has been the perfect answer. As you consider DVC I would suggest you take a look at the Purchasing DVC forum and ask lots of questions! DVC is wonderful for us, but is not right for everyone. If you have any questions please feel free to ask or send me a pm.

We assumed our one trip in 2012 would be a "one and done" kind of thing, but we would like to go back. Maybe 2015, which would be a 3-year gap.

At least every year. There have been years when we have been fortunate enough to go two or even three times in a 12-month period. Recently, we were there in October, we will be there for 2 nights in April (we are doing a trip to the Ocean for spring break) and we have a bounce back booked for sept/October.
