that you have a reservation only to be told they are full and would you like to relocate?

Happened to me on our last trip- but they didn't ask if we'd like to be relocated- they told us as 12:45am when we arrived that they moved us from ASMo to ASSP because they were booked solid. I got teary eyed because we really wanted to stay at ASMo- the mgr ended up finding us a room at ASMo. Which I'm not sure I understand... BUT he did say they had booked us for a nonsmoking room and the one he gave us was a smoking room. I'd never specified a preference of smoking or nonsmoking... so I'm not sure why they did that.LOL All worked out in the end- but we were originally told we were relocated to another resort- and while there I also saw other people wanting to extend their stay and were told they had no rooms available to do so.

I have heard of a few instances, but they were all given upgrades for their troubles.

My family has been staying at WDW resort for 10 years, and that has never happend to us either.

It actually happened to us twice! The first time we were booked at Coronado Springs and we got a call asking if we would like to move to a deluxe for $99/night. We got to stay at the Polynesian! I think they were booked for conventions. The second time we were booked at Caribbean Beach and were asked to move. We got Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah view for $99/night. I can't remember the reason they asked us to move from there, I think maybe they were doing a rehab? I think we're very lucky that we got to do it twice! :goodvibes

We had a tower room booked at the CR for close to a year for a special occasion. During the Shades of Green renovation they moved us over to the Poly and upgraded us to a Lagoon View Concierge room. Funny now to think I spent the whole day, still in my nightgown at 3pm, arguing with them to keep our room at the CR. :rotfl:

Over 100+ stays and NEVER. We have, however, been downgraded. Same thing as another poster. Had a ressie at A/S Movies and they gave our guaranteed non-smoking room away and moved us to A/S sports....not really a downgrade, but we wanted to stay at the new All Star not the oldest All Star....I didn't get teary-eyed, because they did offer us a smoking room, but with an asmatic child with us, we couldn't do that. No apology, no choice....we did email Disney after we returned and the answer we got was, "well since you had a discounted room....blah blah" (went sort of like, I should be happy that they allowed me to spend my money there....sorry, still ticks me off and that was a couple of years ago).

WE are booked for 2 room at the CR in the wings for September and in the back of my mind I'm hoping that just MAYBE we might be relocated since they are under construction....with my luck it would be back into the All Stars Sports... :confused3

Yeah, after I got teary-eyed is when the mgr went to the back and returned saying he had a room but it was smoking. We don't have any problems with that- and we ended up I guess what you'd consider an upgrade at value resort- we got a preferred building when we hadn't paid for that. I thought it was so weird that he said the reason they were moving us to ASSP (explaining this AFTER he'd found us a room) was because they didn't have any other nonsmoking rooms and they usually try to book people with no preference into nonsmoking rooms? I didn't know that... but I hadn't given a preference and smoking room was okay with us. :) It all worked out in the end but now it has me "scared" it will happen again and next time we'll end up having to go to another resort in the middle of the night when we check in, possibly end up with our luggage "lost" using DME when we were supposed to stay at one resort and got moved to another, etc. I never dreamed they'd just stick you in another resort when you had already paid for one when you booked it months before. LOL
