How often does ME busses pick up from resorts?

Buses essentially run as needed, so there is no set schedule. If you want to catch a bus earlier than three hours prior to your scheduled departure, you can arrange to be scheduled on an earlier bus in advance. You should not just try to get on an earlier bus than the one to which you are assigned as this can create problems for the people who are supposed to be on that bus.

We have shown up early for DME and asked the driver if he had room for our party. We waited while the driver went over his roster to make sure he would have space after picking up everybody scheduled for that bus for all resorts. When he said he had room, we thanked him for taking the time to check and we got on the bus. We were fully prepared to be told no there wasn't enough room and to wait for our regularly scheduled bus. There just happened to be enough extra spots on the bus so the driver allowed us to board. I don't see anything wrong with asking as long as you're prepared to accept that there isn't room. I would never want to bump somebody from their regularly scheduled pickup.

As long as there are reservations, DME picks up at each resort every 30 minutes on a schedule. For example, resort X has scheduled DME pick-ups at :05 and :35 after every hour, resort Y has them at :25 and :55 after every hour, etc.

But like I said, this is only if there are reservations. So let's say no one checking out of resort Y that day has a flight leaving between about 3:10 and 3:40 p.m. ... that means there will be no DME bus swinging by to pick people up at 12:25 p.m.

And yes, you can pre-arrange with DME for an earlier pick-up. And as you already learned, if you don't pre-arrange it you may or may not have any luck, either because the bus is slated to be full OR there is no bus picking-up at that time.
