How far do you live from your parents? If you live within a short drive, how often do you visit? Just curious to find out what is typical.

800 miles away. I just got back from the trip for their 50th anniversary. I'm a very bad daughter. I hardly ever visit - maybe every 2 or 3 years. They come here more often because all their grandkids are in Texas.

I used to see them monthly. After they moved to Florida, much less frequently.....:(

We live 5 hours away and we see them monthly, either we go there or they come here for the weekend, longer in the summer. With three kids, 6, 3, and 10 months, it is a pain to travel so much, but I really want them to have a close relationship with their grandparents. I'm just glad they don't live any farther and we can drive. If we had to fly every time I know it would only be at holidays probably. Thankfully, my parents have decided to retire near us, they bought property about 1/2 hour away, so in about 5 years we won't be making such a long trip anymore!!

I'm not that far at all, so I visit every Fri and Sat. :D

I'm only about 20 minutes from my parents, so I see them often and talk to my mom daily. The in-laws are about 45 minutes away and we typically see them once or twice a month.

I work just a couple of miles from my mom's office, so we meet for lunch all the time. :D

we live about 8 hours away by car. i see them once or twice a year. i wish it were more!!! :(

we spend every thanksgiving with them and alternating christmases.

My mom lives across town. We see here every other week. Mandy's mom lives 2.5 hours away. we see her about approx 3 times a year, including every Thanksgiving.

Never. :( Sure do miss them though. :( One day we'll meet again, I'm confident of that. :)

I see my grandmother a couple of time a month on an average, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on how snippy she may or may not be on any given week.

My parents live 18 miles from me. I see them at least once week. WE talk on the phone every day. I just hung up the phone with my Mom, it was my 2nd call of the day. Yep - it's long distance.:o

According to Mapquest it's about 1600 miles. I haven't been "home" for about 12 years but I make a yearly trip to a camp about 350 miles from home and my parents meet us there. They also visit here about once a year and we often see them at other family functions so I usually see them about 2 / 3 times in a year.

My parents live right around the block from me, so I talk to my mom everyday and we run errands together just about every day.

My in-laws just moved to Florida last year and my DH does not want to visit them, but they were just up in June for a few days. We only talk to them about twice a month and its when they call us. Again my DH has no desire to call them.

My parents live in Idaho. We are in Wisconsin. We see each other a couple of times a year. I talk to my Mom every day though.

We see the IL's a couple of times a month usually. They live almost 4 hours away. :)

My Mom lives 1200 miles a way, and I go visit twice a year. I usually talk to her on the phone every other week.

I wish that I lived closer. Life is short. :(

I live about an hour away (pending traffic) and I visit a few times a month. They love to see Monty. They spoil him as though he was a kid so he loves going there. As soon as we turn into their street he starts jumping up and down in the car wagging his tail. :)

They are with me all the time. They may not talk back, but I know they are listening!

Sadly, both of my parents are now deceased. If you can visit your parents, do it. You won't always have them :(

I moved to SC from Michigan 19 years ago. After my second DS was born, my folks packed it up and moved down here, too. (I am an only child, had the boys at age 40 & 42, so grandsons were an unexpected pleasure for them.) They bought a house about 15 minutes away, and 3 minutes from the boys' school. My mom has since joined that church. So we are over there a few times a week, and definitely on Saturday night, when Mom cooks us dinner and babysits while DH and I go to a movie. I don't know what I would have done without their help... If we ever were to move, I'm sure they would follow.:p
